Part Time Pilots, Yay or Nay?

I consider myself part time now as it is. With the two weeks of vacation that can be turned into 6-7 weeks off, 4 sick calls a year of at least two weeks each, and a month or two of coma a year makes for not alot of work....and not alot of pay, but thats my choice. A wife that makes descent...

    Delta travel priviledges

ASA has done it on a few select occasions that I know of, this was about two years ago...definitely not company policy though. What does a "call in honest" event consist of?

buying a ticket but then trying to non-rev to get 1st class

Do not nonrev if you have purchased a ticket! The airline will look at it as if you were trying to save yourself a seat by buying a ticket and then not using it. This could, and has got at least one person fired. And she did it inadvertently, when the gate agent suggested that she just nonrev...

    So ASA's PBS Couldn't Build Me A Schedule...It Dumps Me On Reserve...WTF

This is ridiculous. Its the 22nd of the month and I still have no idea what Im doing next month. At least with line bidding we knew what our schedule was for the majority of the month on the 15th. I got reunions, birthdays, and summer trips that I need to either commit to or decline...

    ASA photo of the week

I know Ive come out of the cockpit and forgotten to tighten my tie a few times. I have also come out with some weird headset hairdoos. Hopefully this was a mixture of both, or yeah, thats pretty bad!

    ASA Reserves

That's what I have never understood. We are trained as pilots...yet we elect from our own to go up against "professional " negotiaters who do this day in day out. Some of us may have some law degrees and interesting majors...but who are we kidding? We became pilots to fly airplanes ..so why...

    ASA April Schedules

That's another problem I have with PBS. A four day training event should be 19-20 hours of at least credit applied to the threshold if not actual pay. If you have AQP and vacation in the same month like I do its going to be very difficult to maximize time off.

    So ASA Anti-PBSers...

Thats the problem...at that point, I don't want it to chose from the three or four days I have on my preference. I just want ONE dayline to get me over the threshold. However, if I include multiple daylines or two day pairings within the preference, it wont differentiate between a four day or...

    So ASA Anti-PBSers...

As suspected, you have to no idea how to accomplish this either. As a matter of fact, I did specify credit values, had three bid sheets with each containing over 20 preferences. I spent the better part of 6 hours fine tuning my bid, plus all the time with trainers, and online tutorials. I...

    So ASA Anti-PBSers...

Please explain how you are doing this as several of the trainers that spend everyday in the lounge and claim to know all the ins and outs of the system have thus far been unable to. How can I tell the system to give me all 4 days right up to the point below the threshold, and then cross the...

    So ASA Anti-PBSers...

This is my biggest issue right now with PBS. It will rarely matter if the company sets 65, 70, or 75 hours as the minimum. Let say the company sets 70 hours, and my preference for 4 days takes me right up to 64...the software is not smart enough, nor is there an option to say " just give me a...

Feb. PBS Bid Awards - ASA

I have vacation for Feb and I have 18 off in a row with another 2 off between trips for a total of 20 off and work 8. However I have a trip that bleeds onto Jan 31, and a trip that bleeds over to March 1,2,and 3. Question: Do the bleed over trips and their value get taken into account with...

    Class action on ASA pay?

Watch your paychecks!!! I am one of those people who never record the times or pay that much attention to my credits and just "trusted" that the system was working correctly. I had been sick, took some FMLA and I am always trading around trips, usually to get me more days off. So keeping...

ASA Finals are out. MUCH better...

Couple weeks ago in RGT, it was revealed that two seperate FAA inspectors approached a FO, and wanted to know when the new 700's were going to be put on property. Apparently, these inspectors knew that 30 700's were in the process of being inspected by ASA and the Feds for airworthiness. Scott...

    Best Net Book!

I put alot of research into this a couple of months ago. Finally endend up with an Asus 1201n. This particular model actually has a 12 inch screen, but comes very close to the form factor of a 10 inch netbook because it doesn't have the huge bezel that is on most 10 inchers. I had a 10...

    Staying Cargo whole career?

Havn't been in the cargo forums for a while, but I just gotta say something about comments like these just in case there are cargo guys looking into something else. I know the general attitude amongst cargo guys towards the regionals, I too believed all this when I was flying cargo. But my...
