For what it's worth, that "delivery charge" generally doesn't go to the driver who delivered to you. So if you stiff the driver, he just delivered to you for free essentially.
Are you serious?? You've got 410 hrs, how much "waiting around" have you done?? Accept the fact you may actually have to :gasp: instruct for a year or more, and multi opportunities will come your way.
Before anyone gets me wrong, I'm not some "old-timer" who started flying when...
"The captain was asked why she closed the throttles prior to touchdown, as the airplane was slow on the approach. She reported that she closed the throttles because it was company procedure to close the throttles at 50 feet."
That's good stuff...........the airplane is well below Vref and no...
Strange, works just as described on mine. Copy background is not the same as copy. I'm not using internet explorer for my browser though, so maybe there's a difference there. Are you right clicking somewhere on the text you've selected/highlighted?
I think it's great the NTSB spends a good portion of their findings discussing fatigue as a factor, and then essentially dismisses it as an issue by not recommending any changes to the current duty day regs, just "training on fatigue".
Got another good tip for you, if this is a recurring problem. Once you type the whole response, highlight it all, right-click and copy, then post. This way, if you lose the post, all ya gotta do is create a new one, and paste.
For the guy asking what the J4J at PSA means for newhires.............apparently it means more time in the pool, for those of us who had a class this month. Just got a call cancelling my Jan 30th class.
Big surprise there, someone's retort to me would be a thinly veiled attempt at pointing out I'm only a lowly CFI. (and who's to say I'm still a CFI?).
You guys keep on scrambling up everyone else's backs to get where you want, you may make it there, but you won't have anyone's...
I appreciate the well-wishes, though I don't believe I was being smug. You'll notice I didn't say anything about the company I got hired on at nor the housing situation during training, until I had to. I'm not making these posts to say "ha, I did better than you guys", but just to discuss a...
Nope, I told em exactly why I wanted to work at that specific airline, and it was the truth. And you won't hear me complain in 6 months, I know exactly what's in my future. I'm not averse to working hard, though I will fight for a fair wage and QOL every chance I get.
And, I don't really know why you're coming at me like this.............whether you realize it or not, we're on the same side. I'm just trying to retain some semblance of dignity to this career, and this is as good a starting point as any other. I understand you probably feel bitter towards me...
No, that's not ok either. Believe me, I've been in no large rush to take a job paying less than I'm currently making instructing. In fact, on principle alone, I resisted applying for about 6 months (hence why I'm just now getting hired at 1600 hrs, instead of the more common 500-700). But...
I don't have to do any of that, I took a job at an airline that has single occupancy during training, as well as full 72 hr guarantee and per diem. I'm not a prima donna by any means, like it would seem you are insinuating. I just feel it's another degradation of the profession and people are...
For anyone who says it's "not bad, it's only 5-6 weeks of your life" etc............we're not (supposed to be) kids or in college anymore. We're adults and this is supposed to be a professional field. Do you think Bank of America, Morgan Stanley, Duke Power (I'm just randomly picking companies...
Just to give you a heads-up on the consequences of doing a PFT/PFJ type deal, based on personal experience. I'm a CFI, and while working as an instructor met a guy who flies a King Air 300. He's a furloughed USAir pilot, and I currently fly contract trips with him. Started flying with him at...
