Interesting question. I can't speak from experience, but to give insight, I'll tell you about my dad. Here's the story....
Growing up, I couldn't have told you what my dad did for a living. As a kid, all I knew was that he was gone four days at a time and went to the airport when he went to...
Put it this way, Atlanta, Dallas, Cincinatti, Houston, Salt Lake City, Chicago, New York, Baltimore, Oakland, Phoenix, and Vegas all sound great to me.
And no, I don't have the 737 type; only two "conditional" job offers from two great companies.
O.K., I have job offers from Southwest AND Delta. What a predicament!! For one, I could care less where I'm based; I'll be a commuter for life. Two, Southwest guys aren't reqired to wear hats. I like that a lot about them.
I've done lots of research on both. Seriously, it's gonna be hard...
Given the three choices, it'd be between ExpressJet and SkyWest. Hmmm. ExpressJet has quick upgrades these days and from what I hear they have a sweet contract. I mean sweeeeet!! However, SkyWest is up there as well. Flying a 120 from north to south California and back would be fun too.
Ouch!! Any time one commuter gets bumped out in favor of another, it's a sad day. Sad for the fact that lives are impacted and the affected carrier is left scrambling to place the jets with the pilots that go with them somewhere else.
However, if this was inevitable, ExpressJet couldn't...
...when your room mates don't lock the door anymore when they're beating off. Seriously, when it came to that, I started looking for another place to stay.
Actually, ExpressJet pilots are the highest paid in the 50 seat jet business. My best bet is the captain on that flight pulls in around $85,000 per year.
No...call ALPA first. Put your girlfriend and you wife on confrence call and come clean with both of them, then thank God. After that, your Chief Pilot should be notified. Crew scheduling is leaving voicemails all the while to make sure you'll be available for your next turn.
After reading the article in this month's ALPA magazine, Operations in Conditions of Light Ice Pellets or Light Snow Pellets, I asked myslef these simple questions: what is the difference between a snow pellet and a snow grain? What is the difference between freezing drizzle and ice pellets...
I've read on some of the gouge sites that jetBlue has been known to ask questions about the "Continuous Improvement Process." Does anyone know what this is and what they're getting at? I've got to come up with and answer by Friday ;). Help would be greatly appreciated!
I saw this link posted on one of the other boards, http://groups.yahoo.com/group/airlinepilotcontracts/ . Maybe you could help out by uploading your company's pilot contract. I think the gist of the site is so prospective new hires can check out various airline's labor deals.
