I'm not going to try to explain it, but this is not correct. The contract has nothing to do with SLI. It is likely that both UAL/CAL furloughed pilots will be stapled to the bottom of active pilots, but it has not been decided on how the furloughed pilots will be put together on one list. I...
I had recurrent last week too and the CP speaking to our GSR class said hiring after this summer is over. Said they have offered 1183 UA recalls out of 1435 to fill the vacancies off last bid. After they go through entire list they hire off the street. That being said, the CP's info isn't...
I'm not trying to be negative, but I am not buying recalls on the August bid. If they don't need to recall us for the summer, they aren't going to need us before next summer either. Yes, I know that we are taking delivery of alot of aircraft, but they will find a way to run the airline as...
I can't stand idiots that have this kind of attitude. Being furloughed right now in this economy is a bad place to be. I very seriously doubt that this person is sitting around waiting for unemployment to end to start looking for a job. Give me a break!!!
No questions about when they may recall the furloughed pilots and staff the airline correctly? I wouldn't have believed his answer, but I sure would have been interested in what his answer might have been!
Try the Embassy Suite near the airport. I use to park there for $50 a month. The shuttle is good to the airport, but you have to get on them to come get you if it is an off time for picking up customers. The shuttle runs every 20 min.
Base on age 60 retirements the airline was hiring to replace those pilots. When the rules of the game changed and the retirement age went to age 65 there was no longer a need to have the new hire pilots. Therefore, 147 of us got furloughed. As for why 147, your guess is as good as mine.
I would love to see how many of the gummers would be whinning if they reversed the age 65 rule tomorrow and they were forced to retire immediately. Ok, this isn't going to happen, but I don't see much difference in this senerio and the age 65 change and how it was implemented. I understand...
I blame the U.S. Goverment for not implementing the age 65 change in a more responsible way. I made my career decisions with one set of rules and 3 days after I started class at CAL the rules changed! I would not be furloughed if the retirement age was still 60 or if the rule would have been...
I have yet to see CALALPA stop anything that management trys to do. CAL furloughed pilots will only return when a new contract is signed. If there were to be a merger, furloughed pilots would likely never return. This has become my reality!
Management has not put a number out, but my guess is between 300-400 pilots. I am near the bottom and hope this ERW will keep me from being on the street, but I doubt it will. At least they are trying to do something to minimize furloughs.
I also had my resume walked into a C.P. 3 times over a 3 month period and didn't get the interview. I went to a Air Inc. job fair and 2 weeks later got the interview. Start class in a week. Good luck! The job fair seemed to work for me.
