Fringe Benefit Tax
Just took a quick look at the Tax Code and couldn't find an appropriate reference to the "transportation" being a taxable benefit. It didn't fit under the excluded / included fringe benefits that are taxable income. Anyone have a cite to the IRC that was utilized in this...
TSA Opinions
I was told that I was a passenger and subject to all the passenger requirements, in uniform w/ company id showing. Depends on the location you are trying to traverse.
Research, please
skiandsurf -- you really need to perform a little more research
UAL lost a DC-10 in Chicago back in the 1970's for mx issues. It was a very unfortunate accident, claiming hundreds of lives.
As for AA, Cali mean anything? Little Rock? Hasn't AA had 5 hull loses in the the...
Do not sweat the crashpad....
There are many, many crashpads available right now. There are postings in the training building as well as the AOC. Highly suggest getting your own room for training (approx $300-$350 per month) and then the usual crashpad thing.
Great to see new people around!

This statement was reflective of only new-hires to the right seat out of ANC.
As for total new hires remainder of this year -- it is a guess -- but probably more to begin June (to be released to the line so that the training for the awarded 727, Airbus, and MD-11 positions can begin)...
Things I have heard.....
Let's see, info for the poolies:
1. approximately 200 in the pool
2. MD-11 ANC to begin on the 22nd/MD-11 Sys in June
3. MD-11 Sys classes to have 20 (each) in June, July, & Aug +
a few in Sept (read: another new hire basic indoc in late May/early...
The Truth
Leaving a Major Airline to go to a Regional Airline (barring furlough) will raise questions with the interviewers due to the fact that it doesn't seem like a "natural progression."
If the individual lies about the "reason for leaving" or the failed training event, that is grounds...
Free popcorn? I'll play!
Junior 727 Captain -- DOH: 2004, with an activation of Nov 2007
Junior Wide-Body Captian -- DOH: 2001, with an activation of Aug 2007
Classess
I'll play. First two weeks of June make perfect sense. June 5th for the first class.
As for straight to the right seat of the -11, I would guess neither in Memphis nor LAX. There are only 99 seats available in MEM and 21 in LAX. Now if it was Alaska, I would say that is very...
1st Amedment Rights
The 1st Amendment right regarding Free Speech is inapplicable in this situation. The Government cannot ban (State, Federal) but an employer can limit an individual's speech.
Also, what you do AWAY from work is also having an impact on one's employment, i.e., Alaska...
Fyi
Someone posted something about a "sick-out" being a legal work action.
Better get your facts straight. ABX pilots had a case that went to the 6th Circuit and they were found guilty of an illegal work action (cannot find the site right now, but give me until after the 24th, and I'm all...
Transportation
I've done both -- the bus and the El.
I had the opportunity to start in MKE and took the bus to MDW, which stop at ORD ($25 or so).
The El, I thought was 1.75, but hey, $2.00 is the same.
I do not mind public transportation and you are not stuck with some crazy cab driver...
I'll Play
Date: 13 Feb (let's just see if VIPS could survive this....)
W/B Captains: 227
W/B F/Os: 230
Boeing Captains: 32
Boeing F/Os: 45
I vote that the accountants win on the bid issue.......
...about anyone!!
For those of you that are "just wrong" to hijack this thread.....get your mind out of the gutter!!
The original post was to **tease** Albie that he will actually have to hub-turn since his wife is providing excellent interview preparation to the SWA/jetBlue/FDX...
Be careful!!
Albie, I would be very careful if I were you.........
Promoting your wife will force you to work for a living, I see many, many hub turns in your future because everyone will not be utilizing your services......they will find that your wife's services are superior!
Visa Requirements
I would also look into whether or not a Visa is required to go to China. Being a jumpseater, you are not working the flight and entrance requirements are different.
I do take phone calls.....
You are too funny.
I would have answered that one for you too!
Anyway, furloughed is not a hindrance UNLESS you think that you will be returning to <legacy> airline.
