...as the areas I wouldn't know since I commute and can go anywhere they want me. Denver seems nice. Atlanta is reported to be pretty hot and ORD is **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED**tty in the winter and nice in the summer.
Good luck on the interview. You could do a lot worse...
This is one of the best threads I have seen on this board in years.
What about flight attendants? Can we call them stewardesses again? I'm assuming they will all be female. Is there a legal way to insure this? Maybe we could start a religion along the right lines or something.
Maybe we...
Our minimum is 12 days which is what all the reserve lines are built to. We have a lot of commuters so for right now almost all our trips out of ORD have been four day trips with a few stand-up lines. The FO lines average from 13-15 days off with a few at 12 days and some with 16 and a few...
Somehow it's not as much fun when you don't make enough money to buy groceries, pay the mortgage, and go on vacation even when you get it. Money's not the only thing but it's the main reason I wanted to work for an airline.
If I had really known what fun flying was I would have become a...
1. If the airline doesn't make money nobody gets paid. At least not in the long term.
2. Your 2 Captain idea would indeed cost much more because I think it was suggested they get paid the same. Therefore the incremental wage scales would start out much higher. PCs and training...
g159av8tor,
Not entirely true. United can do that now because they are in bankruptcy. We signed a 10 or 11 year contract with them. They will have to honor this contract as will we. The only way out is for both sides to mutually agree to restructure or for one side to take it to court. I...
I used "Checklist for Success" by Sheryl Cage. It prepares you for any interview and is all about the total package you present, not just answering canned questions. It helps you think through how to answer any question and those questions they might suprise you with.
As far as AWAC goes I...
I've been at awac 15 months and I am about halfway up the fo list in ord.
it all depends on what the company does in the future. we've got about 9 more rj's coming on property this winter (i think) and that will end our new deliveries unless the company announces something. (which they...
I regret that I didn't start flying sooner. I got all my ratings in college. I regret that I went into debt to finance my ratings. Now I am paying for it. I would have been better off paying as I went.
However I would probably live somewhere else and wouldn't be married to my lovely wife...
Someone asked that question in Car & Driver just the other month. I don't remember all of the answer but here is what I know. Formula One has to do with the complicated rules under which they run. Everything is regulated down to the chassis specs, weights, engines, etc. there is a...
Air Whiskey has one of the best pilot groups around. I have been here a little over a year and love it.
Yes we did agree to some pay concessions but our contract is still one of the best. You get paid guarantee (75 hrs) during training which is better than most. Training department is top...
I find that it is rare to refuse a jumpseater because of weight restrictions. Like the previous guy said, if you can talk to the crew they can usually find a way to get you on. (not always but usually). The gate agents get the final word from us.
As far as loads into Green Bay I can't...
What kind of helicopter flying are you doing? Yeah, it depends on the regional airline but if you're getting turbine helicopter or twin turbine time, I wouldn't just dump that. If you paying for it I guess your in something small and it all just counts for total time/powered lift. You might...
Take a good look at the company before you apply and do alot of homework. You have to make some assumptions. I only apply/interview at companies I want to work for. If you apply, assume you will get an interview. Assuming you get the interview, assume you will get hired. Assuming you get...
Air Whiskey
The best (and possibly only) way to get an interview with Air Wisconsin Airlines is to have a letter of recommendation from a pilot at Air Wisconsin Airlines. No turbine time will hurt your chances also. Air Whiskey is one of the most sought after regionals even after the contract...
I believe United would like to have ACA as a feeder in the East. However they will only do it under terms similar to what AWAC, Skywest, and Mesa agreed to. It seems ACA isn't willing to negotiate anything close to that and are opting to go out on their own. We all know this and where the...
For whatever reason, we are short staffed right now. Much of our flying has moved from Denver to Chicago per UAL so I'm guessing not all of the Denver staff elected to move.
Don't know any details like pay or hours etc. I believe they just agreed to some kind of pay decrease for UAL when...
Hansel,
Sorry to hear it. My wife has been supportive for the most part and very understanding considering the first year regional wages.
I would have to know their reasons for not supporting me and the level of unhappiness. I think family comes first and if you put them against each other...
Those are Dornier 328 turboprops operated by Air Wisconsin. The above poster was right. That picture was taken some months ago (obviously by the snow) at the B concourse in Denver. The aircraft are no longer in the fold at AWAC.
