Maybe I'm wrong, but aren't the airlines still fuel hedged to a certain degree? Certainly they aren't paying the full market rate for jet fuel. Why the sudden panic? Looks like a ploy to whack the employees for concessions again.
Also hot off the press, DN, TZ, and SJ were re-elected to another two year term. Disappointing that no fresh blood was considered. I think the status reps will have some competition when they are up for re-election.
AFA at ASA is about to sign onto PBS. They sent a letter to all FAs telling them how great PBS is and how they'll all be able to hold the same schedule they currently hold.
Apparently the company offered AFA "everything they were asking for" in exchange for PBS, and the AFA Chairwoman (JB)...
This was recently printed in the "Roar from 44", the official magazine of the DAL ALPA LEC 44/ATL.
"I wonder if our former "wholly owned subsidiary" is going to retain date-of-hire passes and continue to bump hard-working Delta folks off their own airplanes?"
Looks like the Delta pilots pushed...

Last week in the Chief Pilot Forum and Free KoolAid session, BL mentioned some "idiot" who posted online last week that we are losing our S3s. He inferred that it caused an uproar at Delta because they were pissed that ASA leaked info from their "inside" meetings. Boo hoo, maybe you shouldn't...
A prominent RJDC supporter told me the other day that Dan Ford heard a rumor that CMR -700s are going to be "diverted" to ASA to cover the SLC and increased ATL flying.
Anyone heard such that can confirm or deny?
Hot off the rumor mill:
Gulfstream is acquiring ex-ASA EMB120s in Delta colors and will replace Chautauqua in MCO as a Delta Connection Carrier serving inter-Florida and the Islands. CHQ may also have a "greatly reduced presence" in DFW.
Anyone else heard this one yet that can confirm or...
Merger of ASA and Comair Pilot Groups
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Delta Air Lines, Inc., purchased ASA in April 1999 and Comair in January 2000. Shortly thereafter, Delta Connection, Inc., was formed, and ASA and Comair became the only wholly-owned subsidiaries of that corporate substructure.
The...
The "Terror Alert" was reduced to "Yellow" from "Orange" this morning.
I don't know what this means except that maybe the TSA will quit harassing everybody at the airports as much for a while.
I wonder if we'll hit "Red Alert" if we go to war in Iraq?
I vote no. Though this is merely my opinion, I form it through statements like this:
The problem with the major airlines, Delta in particular, is that they try to be "everything to everybody".
The the fluff in the Delta.com press release about customer choice shows that they still don't get...
It's very scary how we inch closer every day to the Orwellian prophecy:
1. "TIPPS" program. (Congress just dealt it a setback yesterday, but the NSA still is going forward with it).
Make a centralized database of information gleaned from surveliance videos (ATMs, traffic cams, security cams)...
I have noticed a dramatic increase in the flamebait on this board. Some examples inclide the G Bush union thing, the don't pay taxes, and the guy who wants to fly into LAX with his wives.
I suspect that these posts originate from the same individual or individuals. The one thing they all...
I heard on the news yesterday that restrictions have been imposed by the FAA for 9/10 to 9/13. According to the report (ABC News), they include:
All pax must remain seat 30 minutes out of and into all NYC and DC airports.
No overflights of the crash sites below FL180 for a radius of 35 miles...

Looks like ASA is finally clawing its way up from "ugly redneck stepchild of Delta" status. This week we get new wings and hat ornaments that have a Delta Widget on them along with the new ASA logo, and starting in September, our ATRs will begin operating in CVG to places like TOL, CAK, TRI...
There is a post below about a company called Air Atlanta. If you go to their website, their mission is scary:

Maybe ALPA should be paying more attention to fighting cabotage than it's paying to fighting RJs. Right now, Leo Mullin and the IATA are STRONGLY lobbying our government to allow...
There used to be a site where you could look at other airlines' contracts and compare pay rates. I can't find it anymore.
Does anyone know of such a site?
