Thanks, but if the newhires at GoJet are going to be banned from all other airline flying, won't that translate into stagnation in terms of upgrades from FO to Captain? I assume you mean upgrade to a 70 seat even if they remain an FO.

I would imagine that their mindset is that since this is a new carrier, they will be the first ones on the seniority list and if things prosper it will mean quick seniority and upgrades for them. From my understanding nothing is banning GoJet from flying for all other airlines, just the ones that have restrictive scope for 70 seat aircraft.

Doesn't it strike you folks as a little bit strange that ALPA, whose actions are responsible for the likes of Freedom, Republic and GoJet is suddenly trying to stop it?

All three of those alter ego airlines came into existence as a direct result of scope clauses created by ALPA and copied by the APA.

I thought the first day of class went well. We had a big welcome and got company pens and stationary. The balloons were a bit over the top but all in all it was so far so good as they say in the industry.

Don't laugh too hard. IBT attorneys have already said that there is no chance of GoJet being determined an alter-ego. The only way it will happen is if ALPA gives away the farm.

I wish this were true. Unfortunately a lot of the Freedumb idiots have moved on to find other employment, some at jetBlue from what I've understood. Management does the hiring for the most part, and I'm sure they wouldn't mind hiring someone who went against the union and pilot group. Hell, it would probably work in their favor.

FuelFlow, take a good read here. Don't know who your "sources" are at IBT but precedent would indicate that ALPA has a VERY good chance of a ruling in it's favor.

My handle says it all

Go Jets guys, based on my "alter-ego" experience, this is what you can expect:

You'll get denied the jumpseat at your affiliate carrier 10-25% of the time. Plan accordingly.

Jump on pretty much everyone else 99% of the time.

You'll NEVER get denied a jumpseat at Southwest. These guys just don't give a s! about stuff this small. Life's too short and all that.

DON'T expect to get hired at your mainline affilate carrier.

DO expect to get hired by real carriers like Southwest and JetBlue (I know of at least 8 "F8 A-listers" offhand who've gone down that path)

DON'T take any S! from other pilot in uniform, either at the airport or at the hotel. Be the bigger man, take a deep breath, go to the counter, and get the cops or airport security involved. 99% of pilots shut up at that point, and they'll be doing a major carpet dance for their CP for starting this in the first place. Trust me on this, you cannot reason with these guys, and you cannot agree to disagree. Don't waste your time or risk your job trying.

IF IT COMES TO STRUCK WORK, ALL THE ABOVE IS NULL AND VOID. DON'T CROSS A PICKET LINE. Truly scabbing is a career killer, and in my opinion, rightly so.

No matter what your management tells you, they WILL hang you out to dry when it's time to kiss and make up. If it's not in writing, it never happened. Scuttlebutt is that the Teamsters dropped ya. If that's true, ORGANIZE IMMEDIATELY, and get it on file with the DOT. A contract is a billion times better than "work rules", and you can write in some protections for future mergers.

Good luck to you. If anyone should be flipping out about an alter-ego, it should be Mesa, but I have yet to find a single Mesa pilot who's ever heard of ya -- with the execption of a few Mesa-handles I recognize on this forumn.

(As to the rest of ya, I've heard it ALL. Flame on if you must, it will help you vent, but I could really care less.)

The same vocal minority have been posting over and over. Let this one die.


TSA you basically have two options:

1) Let GoJets Fly and go work for them.
or
2) Get rid of your AA feed and fly your CRJ's

Seems simple to me!

Hey bud, I think you ought to reconsider your stance. Seems to me that your beef right now is with the TSA pilots cause of codeshare mishaps that were created by AA. You, me, TSA guys, and nobody else on this board that is employed as a pilot has any control whatsoever whom our companies do business with. It is in no way our decision to make.

What we try to control, is our compensation and work rules that we negotiate, normally through our respective unions. Encouraging people to go work for a place such as GoJet, undermine our gains in these areas. Not to mention, possibly leave some out on the street through furloughs and spin offs, since wholly owneds appear to be an expensive commodity for managements now at days. If this is allowed to go forward, you can say goodbye to good contracts and a big FAT hello to GoJet and Freedom. Cause they'll be more than happy to bump you aside while they fly that shiny new jet (for 50 bucks an hour) right into your job.

I guess AWA got undermine by... TSA CHQ and MESA...

They had much better rates and work rules than all you combined.

You cannot just decide to strike. You need to be in mediated contract negotiations and be released to self help by the NMB, usually after a cooling off period. Otherwise it's an illegal job action. You don't really think that a pilot group can just go on strike whenever they want, do you?
