so I got a check from AWAC today for about $400 bucks. I worked there for only about a year, and it was 4 years ago. I haven't heard what happened with arbitration, judges, settlements, etc. glad to get the $, just curious what happened? sorry, don't read this board much anymore.
thanks
Ron Reber a few years ago said 'within 5 years the only regionals of consequence or size will be SkyWest and Republic.' with the formation of Inc. and all else that has happened, I'd say he wasn't too far off. who knows what will happen next.
in a recent sapa meeting, CC said that prior to being president of skywest he worked for years writing proposals to rfp's that the company was bidding on. he said very emphatically that we have never won an rfp because our pilot costs were the lowest. he did say that we've won because of our...
I heard that same thing. what I was told is that the airline that came to us with the deal said it'll depend on the outcome of the drive, not Jerry passing on it.

I am also waiting until tonight to vote. what pushed you over the edge? this has torn me up,and I wish it was easier to decide. it's hard for people who aren't here to understand but I've talked to lots of guys who feel the same way I do.
I think Chicago will have the highest percentage voting for it. I think the events also are filled mostly with guys who are already for it. I'd bet that a large percentage won't vote at all, mostly out of apathy.
my own unscientific poll:
I went back to my eTrip and looked at everyone I've flown with since July 1st. I flew with two guys more than once, so I only counted them once. I flew with guys of all seniority levels, from the top ten in the company to guys junior to me, with less than 3 years...
looking for info and not rhetoric or flames about alpa.
2 scenarios.
1-a pilot is involved in an incident, accident or whatever and the FAA seeks certificate action against him. he's an honest guy who made an honest mistake (ie: crossed and active runway, his FO struck a wing on landing or...
what SKyNation posted is pretty much what I was told happened by the Asst CP, who I know to be a good guy. there was obviously more to it, and he agreed like we all do that DD shouldn't have been fired.
I'm also starting to think that skynation is a plant for the OC to stir people up and vote...
I was at AWAC prior to coming to skywest as well. I am much happier here. I can appreciate the arguments for and against in this matter of whether or not to get alpa here. i don't hink it'll pass.
there is some discussion here at SkyWest that bringing ALPA onboard will improve our trips or pairings by having a duty/trip rig.
if you have trip/duty rig where you work, what would it pay for this trip (an example of one of the crappiest 4 days in SLC this month)?

I heard rumor that Delta was hiring regional FOs for a variety of reasons including that 'they're more trainable (read: less time in the industry, less grouchy).
on the other hand, I've heard that this only happens rarely, and is the result of someone's day, uncle, etc. getting them on.
true...
my mom is trying to travel to CYS from DEN, but it looks like it's not a UEX flight anymore?
if not, is there a way she can non-rev on that segment?
thanks

I bought a 5x5 Pro on ebay a few years ago and it worked great in the RJ. I came to really love the lightweight, nothing on my head via the custom ear mold design of it. My only problem was that the aural alerts came in SUPER loud to the point where it cancelled everything else out when it...
I'm told by newhires that their newhire classes are made up of anywhere between 75-95% former 121 folks, most of them former ALPA.
Pinnacle, Comair, Horizon, Mesa, Mesaba-you name it they continue to come here.
If we are so looked down upon, why do people keep coming here? I was at AWAC prior...
how does ATL compare to ORD? I know that ORD has gotten way better, but do any of you remember how things used to be in the F alley? it was ridiculous on a daily basis.
anyone with experience in ATL and ORD that can compare the two? I've heard lots of comments about how bad it is, but having...
I was at Air Wisconsin, now I'm at SkyWest. I can promise you that a bunch of formerly DEN based guys/gals now commuting to ORF, DCA and PHL wish now that AWAC could have competed more effectively to retain their UEX flying.
the devil is in the details. our rates may be a buck or two below...
-scene opens as an FO returns home from work to his house in suburban Denver, circa 2002-
Pilot: Hi Honey, I'm Home!
Wife: Welcome home, Dear, how was your trip?
Pilot: Great! I love AWAC, and love living here in Denver.
No more commuting for us! It's so great to drive to...
