I have no idea what management is looking for, but the company has never really wasted people time just to interview them, so if you did well you have a good chance at getting it.

What was your background prior to going to Southern?

Regional 11 years , and international corporate for 5 years. Didn't sell myself as good as I wanted to , but the sim I was pleased with myself and I'm usually hard on myself when it comes to sim stuff. Well so far no news from them, I take it as no news is always good news.

Just heard a bunch of guys got furloughed / fired. How is that going to influence the hiring future?

I believe it's 8 engineers who are getting furloughed. The company upgraded as many back seaters to the First Officer position as they could; anyone who had the required flight time was given the opportunity to upgrade, and a bunch did.

The remaining engineers were all given opportunities to take non-flying positions in the company. Some have decided to take the positions available, some didn't.

Not aware of any recent firings, but there were a few resignations this week; one went to Jet Blue, one got a corporate job, and I don't know about the third.

Hiring is moving forward as planned; our fleet is simply re-aligning to more modern jets, so Engineers are a dying breed. We will still have 4-5 200's flying for the foreseeable future, but the rest of the fleet will be glass cockpit.

furloughed= the correct term is laidoff, they have no recalled rights.
