How long does your annual/condition inspection typically take? Is a one day inspection sufficient?

I have my repairman certificate and my first one was done by an A&P/IA which I was very unpleased with. While I was there for days, I had to wait around for inspection "attention" while I did most of the work as I wanted to do owner assisted.

It's now 4 years later and mine get more and more thorough each year. No way can I do it in a day nor would I want to. I'd say it takes me about a week with working a few hours a day or maybe longer on weekends. But I see and hear about one day inspections and just think there is no way it can be thorough enough, for me at least.

What's your opinion and experience on inspections and expectations for the time to do a proper one? I realize too this depends on people involved and total man hours. Let's assume it's one person doing it with or without your assistance.

I think the key element is the completeness of the inspection i.e. completing a checklist. CubCrafters provides a checklist, I do more than what's on the checklist personally such as inspecting wing tanks for leaks, etc. For someone familiar with the airframe I would imagine they can do it far less time than someone like me.
