seems split between wanting representation and not. also seems like the majority of skw pilots don't want to merge pilot groups.

For the most part it is the popular view. Sure there are some guys that get all riled up over nothing. Luckily a lot of these guys are leaving. By the time we have a vote if we ever do there should be around 26-2700 pilots on property. The more the better as it makes it all the more difficult for ALPA to hit whatever benchmark they are looking for.

Why would the aircraft type matter when I upgrade? The fact is there are the same number of seats and it can carry what about 10,000 more lbs? Trust me I won't be losing any sleep at night over 10,000 lbs. That amount of weight is virtually nothing in our world.

I would like to be the first to thank ALPA for our raise though. Thanks for your help now either hold the vote or go away, you are an unwelcome guest at our airline. No ALPA or any union dues 34 years and counting baby! Lets make it 40+ years. P.S your BBQs are getting old and nasty old hot dogs or burgers aren't going to change our mind. We certainly are not going to sign a card just to get free racoon meat.

Time to get off the teet, the reason aircraft type matters when you upgrade if the difference in pay with the difference in type. With your 500 hours of flight time I don't expect you to grasp that concept. I'm always welcome on a united express carrier, there is not much YOU can do about it sittin gear bitch.

BTW I don't care much about ALPA, but you need to get some sort of representation because it sounds to me like you lack a back bone.

Well some people may feel they need representation and that is fine. It really does get old however hearing people trying to tell us as a pilot group what we need and don't need. Actually with this new pay package both FOs and Captains get the over-ride and therefore different pay between the 50 seater and 70/76 seaters.

In the end I do not think the union vote will pass in fact we may never even have a vote but thats ALPAs problem not mine. I'm tired of people trying to tell us what we need or don't need. We can decide for ourselves thank you very much. I am ready to get my raise, vote ALPA down and move on with my life.

I think a lot of this boils down to jealousy really. Union carriers are jealous because we do quite well for ourselves and don't have to pay for it. I don't know how else to explain their illogical hatred of us. We make more than most union airlines. That should make us amongst friends not enemies correct? We can all still get along, just because we don't want a union doesn't make us bad guys.

Are you out of your gord? ALPA carriers are not jealous. We are pis$ed that you guys suckle off of the gain we make while contributing nothing to the profession. You've not gotten 1 thing on your own. You've gotten everything because other ALPA carriers got it first. Holey Christ, I can't believe you actually believe the spew coming from your cake hole!

i care about my fellow pilots. i care that so much of what we take for granted in this industry is because of pilots that came before us and ALPA. this job would not be worth squat if it were not for ALPA in the last 50 plus years.

great, u and alpo save us all. because you know all about alpa. you dont you fly a RJ, you have no idea about alpa clown. /retard/slave!! alpa hates rj pilots but love the dues.

What's everybody's beef with SkyW? We're growing, we have an excellent working relationship with management. I came from a regional represented by ALPA...and it sucked so bad. Based on my experience with ALPA, I would never vote them in here. You guys can say what you want...I've been here at SkyW for 6 months...and you cannot even compare my QOL at SkyW to my other carrier.

I lived in domicile at this wonderfully represented ALPA regional
I made "more" hourly wage wise

But Guess what...

I commute for SkyW...get more days off
I make more a month making 19.02 than I did making 22

And I'm so much happier here.

You guys really need to get off of your high horse. It seems as though everything is chipper when you are expanding...but because someone else is and you're not getting your piece of cake too, you hate us.

We are not bringing the regionals down...if we were, how come every new hire class is infested with ex-ALPA and none of them want anything to do with that dou*chbag union.

One more thing...if we're supposively going to be "black-balled" by these ALPA majors because we're not ALPA, then how come so many of our pilots now are going back to United? Why is FedEx scooping us up by the truckload.

The power of the union is gone.

...FireAway

I'm certainly no ALPA cheerleader, and I'm glad you enjoy where you work, but it sounds like you've bypassed the koolaid and have moved on to purple veils and black Nikes at this point.

I have alot of friends at SKW who really like it, I sent multiple resumes last year meeting minimums and never got a call...but the bottom line is the first year hourly rate SUCKS. It is very disappointing to me that it didn't improve much in the new proposal, and that pilots at Skywest (despite wild profitability and growth) are willing to accept sub-$20/hr to fly as a first-year FO on a 76 seat jet. To me, that screams of screwing all the newbies...but hey, at least they are paying during training now, right?

No, we don't hate you. But the simple fact that you don't understand is that when JA is done with ASA you guys are going to be next on the chopping block, and you currently have zero protection against that. And when your turn in the barrell comes, it will be too late. I sincerely hope that it doesn't happen to you, but I'd bet that it will. JA won't always be there, and even if he is he may decide that you guys are overpaid. If he does, what do you plan to do? If he yanks your rigs, or your profit sharing, what is your recourse?

I'll probably feel better after eating a warm chocolate chip cookie. One of those big ones that are real chewy. None of those hard crispy grocery store brand with the M&Ms.
