You Swapa crybabies kill me!!
A guy with a few months in the right seat of an airliner who is a
"Self-Professed Expert" on airlines!
How this guy ever convinced anybody that he could write aviation
related articles for some rag is beyond belief.
I guess, if you can't fly, you can gain some self-satisfaction from
trying to convince some media types that you know what you're
writing about.
Any person with any aviation experience at all recognizes
this guy as a complete fraud!
APA gave us the "B" scale, now they're against the age 65 rule. Guy's, this is a great deal for everybody, if you look down the road a few years. Think long term. As much as you might be against this right now, it probably will mean about a million dollars to you, if you consider you're 401k's or retirement plans and insurance coverage. I'll bet you a domestic beer that when you're 50 or 55, you'll be for this. I know you might not believe this now, but I think you will. Just consider the possibility.
The age 65 rule will mean at least a billion dollars additional income for the pilot group, as a whole. Probably, a lot more. The airline fleet is projected to double by 2020, so there is plenty of opportunity for everyone. And Learherkjay, you're right, it means 5 more years of income. It's the ultimate "Win-Win" situation. Any other profession or industry would jump on this deal in a heart-beat. To be against this is putting your personal issues above the group, as a whole. If your a team-player, and are in reasonably good health, then you stand to gain a lot in terms of total income and increased retirement benefits. It's hard to look long-term when you're in you're thirties, but it looks like common sense is going to prevail to all of our benefit.
Age 70 being talked about already.
Something about a world wide
shortage of experienced pilots.
Better do you homework. And put away your stapler.
Seniority would be worked out, by law, in arbitration.
If you don't want to have a fair merger integration, then don't buy
anybody. GET IT?
Southwest is ranked #5 for "Quality", behind Airtran, Jetblue and NW.
Aeroflot had the #1 Brand for a while also.
DOH would screw the majority of AirTran pilots.
A 1 for 1 blend or by relative seniority would be required to make this work.
Better wait to see how this pans out.
It should be a DL/NW type of SLI, but it could end up like US/AWA
or Muse Air/ATA
Hope that you can sell Airtran on DOH
Because arbitration will probably result
In relative seniority.
You still keep your pay, seat and
Domicile. What's your beef?
Your upgrade probably will be quicker as a result of the anticipated growth after the merger.
Growth after the merger.
I think stapling the SWA pilots to the AirTran list will be the likely
result because AT has international routes and more growth
potential.
Let's get it over with and move forward.
Or, relative seniority can be agreed to without arbitration, and no SW
pilot would lose any pay, or Captain seat, or upgrade potential.
Sounds like some SW guys think that an arbitrator is going to
take away AirTran Captain seats and F/O upgrade
potential and give it to them.
That would be an obvious "windfall" that will never happen.
Andy....Well played sir.
Andy....Well played sir.
They need to be cognizant of the fact that they may be on the cusp of negotiating themselves out of a job. If they negotiate themselves out of a job, they can't say that they weren't warned.
We're getting close, but you keep ducking.
kwick is a hater. I've reached out to him to no avail. He's passionate but he's all thrust and no vector.
And he's scared ********************less of losing "his" job.
Gup
Fear has short circuited logic. Of course you are right, but SWAPA and to some degree SWA see judgment day on the horizon, a fair and equitable list. SWAPA/SWA want to drag this out, they fear being held to the process agreement, they fear the process.Wouldn't it behoove ALPA to accept the 6 month extension?
Ding, ding, ding. We have a winner!Gary this, Gary that, Gary Gary Gary........ Gary is gonna get you! Gary will punish you! Gary is the boogie man! Gary don't play!
You SWA types sound scared ********************less the AT guys might get a fair shake.
Gary this, Gary that, Gary Gary Gary........ Gary is gonna get you! Gary will punish you! Gary is the boogie man! Gary don't play!
You SWA types sound scared ********************less the AT guys might get a fair shake.
This quote comes from a guy who once said: "Age 65 WILL NOT happen.".
Remember that gem, Andy?
All bow to the great and powerful GARY....
Keepin the CULTure alive, one Herb Turd at a time!!
You Swapa crybabies kill me!!
Ding, ding, ding. We have a winner!
Fear of fair and equitable, it's ooozing out of SWAPA.
But they don't need to be afraid, they don't need to hide under Kelly's desk, they can get up off their knees, wipe their chin and present a fact based logical argument to a third party nuetral. If the facts and logic support their position, then their is nothing to fear.
From the AT merger update today:
In addition, Dan Katz, SWAPA counsel Jeff Freund, mediator Dana Eischen, and Southwest Airlines Senior Labor Counsel Joe Harris conferred multiple times via teleconference during the week to discuss various mediation and arbitration schedules. During the exchanges, SWAPA pushed for a delay in the arbitration proceedings, which we opposed. Southwest management offered to extend by up to three months their previously stated desire to conclude the arbitration process by December 31. In the end, the arbitration board accepted our position that the following twelve hearing dates should remain in place: October 11-14, November 14-17, and December 13-16. The parties also agreed to reserve January 31 through February 2 for additional arbitration sessions, if necessary. Arbitration hearings will take place in Washington, with times and places to be determined.
