...and, for that matter, we don't have any idea what DOES exist at USAir these days. Limited idea about payrates, work-rules, benefits, retirement. and we can't even find out what aircraft or domicile we'll be assigned before we accept recall! How exactly are we supposed to make an educated... -

Part 91 Alternates Question
Ok. Dumb question of the day. So if we know we need 2000 and 3 from 1 hour before to 1 hour after the ETA otherwise we need an alternate. We also know that we need 600/2 or 800/2 forecast at the filed alternate dependant upon the type of approach. So what if the main body of the forecast... -

V ref vs. V approach
Vref is, by definition, 1.3 VSO. Tell the Lear driver to look at the AOA gauge next time he's flying at Ref +0. It's WAY in the green. Plenty of kinetic energy left for flying. If you want to be at Vref +10, fine. But don't add a few more knots for the wind, and a few more for the wife and... -

Why would you be considering going to Republic now? By mid-summer they will likely have called you back to mainline at the rate folks are bypassing. -

US Recalls
Thanks for the info. It was pretty tough to find work in early 2002. A lot of us did what we had to do to keep food on the table and to fly for a living. (J4J was not yet a possibility even as late as Nov 02) Given the choice, i'm sure none of the letters would have been mailed. -

US Recalls
Are letters going out to pilots who "resigned" under duress in order to find employment shortly after 09/11? Their names are still on the APL... They were called for MidAtlantic positions... They still get info from ALPA... Inquiring minds want to know. Did you 'resign' and still get a letter? -

I don't mean to seem dishonest, but if you go to the emergency room with a random kidney stone, you pass it, the urologist subsequently gives you the green-light... then why not just chalk it up to "don't ask - don't tell"? How would FAA Aeromedical ever find out about the episode if you don't...- Rabble

I disagree that you can "see it coming' in aviation. Ask any of the pilots who were hired by the majors in the 1990s if they could see it coming. (i'll admit that 09/11 accelerated the process) We make decisions based on the information we have at the time. You wouldn't execute a missed... -

You guys could go a long way towards some goodwill by saying, "Aww heck, you guys have over one THOUSAND pilots on furlough -- go ahead and take the RJs. We can get some growth later on." But we all know ALPA's motto don't we? "I've got mine. Screw you." -
