Sorry Shon7, I just looked at the posters name 727fa. I didn't know or expect a flight attendant to be replying to a post in the Major's section of a pilots web board. I jumped the gun assuming he/she was a pilot, I aplologise.
NYR
You used the word "you" when posting to another poster about getting off his or her's bottom. I'm guessing no one "had" to work as a baggage handler prior to being hired as a pilot. Just to make sure I'll ask my captain...lol.
If you were trying to say that as an airline "we" (the airline)...
Kind of how your airline would have only made $66 million without your fuel hedging. I think there is a heafty amount of bag fees in our profit, as are food service, movies and other amenities that your lower tier airlines don't offer. Welcome to Atlanta sw.
Guys that were furloughed from NWA will go from 3rd or 4th year pay to 8th or 9th year pay with the Delta contract. We kept longevity for pay. I have only worked for Delta a little over two years (5 years on furlough) but I am on 8th year pay. I hope the NWA MEC fought for this for their junior...
Yea, that sounds about right. Considering what you guys bring to the table (contract wise), I imagine this is what arbitration will look like for you guys. We should try to come to an agreement with regards to SLI...as soon as possible, so that in Jan.09 both NWA and DAL can get an equity...
It would be nice (if we have to do this deal), to let the oil situation play out. Lets see what happens to the dc9 and md88's, then let the "guaranteed" retirements happen at NWA....see where everyone is and try the deal again.
Delta is offering "gains" as a means to persuade us to agree to SLI without arbitration. They (Delta and our union) tell us there will be no deal without a pre-negotiated list. The other option is "press on" (from a company standpoint)...ie merge the airlines with no increases in pay, work...
Yea, you're right. As soon as DAL and NWA merge, it will drive the price of oil back to $50 a barrell.....
If you say oil is the big problem, how will mergers lower the price?
According to the last "Lounge Meeting" Beck reiterated, " if there is no pilot agreement, there is no deal."
We don't need this....neither group needs this. KILL IT NOW!!!
Better yet, since the NWA guys think they are getting screwed, and us Delta guys KNOW we are getting screwed (by each others proposals)...why don't we all work together to kill this deal. Could it be that NWA guys see a huge improvement to their conrtact and a %30 pay raise on day one.
Come...
I think you might be missing my point. I am not saying that NWA doesn't offer DAL a great deal in a merger. I am saying there is no benefit to the Delta pilots. All of the 'where we fly, what we fly" stuff is up to management. I am merely saying that if the Delta pilots don't get favorable...
Merging companies will not lower the cost of fuel. I think we have a pretty good thing going at Delta, as do the NW guys at NW. I don't see any benefit for the Delta pilots in this merger. The only thing to offer Delta pilots would be a favorable SLI....without it most Delta pilots would...
No thanks on DOH. I am 600 numbers from 88 captain in NY. With the 777 737-700s and 757's comming that won't take very long.
As for hockey, you sure do have a great team in DTW. The Rangers managed to blow a 5-0 lead to the Canadians and lose in a shootout. 5-6.
Scratch that....just...
