    717 landing lights question

    Anyone know why the 717 (and basically all other MD's) have so many recognition lights? Also wondered why more planes don't have them on the wing tips?

    Saabs at TLH

    Was in TLH today and saw a NW Airlink Saab parked at the gate. I used to work for them when I went to school up there and we only had CRJ's come in three times a day. Are these Saabs in addition to the 3 CRJ flights a day or did they switch a few of them out?

    Is it possible? (US Airways flight)

    Heard a few rumors that the bird strike on the US Airways flight may have only taken out one engine, but the pilot shut down the wrong engine... I know pilots have mistakenly shut down the wrong engine before... Is it possible it happened on this flight?

    Was out plane watching the other day and saw a NW DC-9 with rotating white beacons on the wings. I had never seen this before... How long ago did they switch to flashbulb strobes?

    LED's replacing strobe Flashbulbs?

    I've seen a few new private jets with the bright LED's where the strobes are usually located. Are they as effective? Will commerical airliners begin replacing their flashbulbs for LEDS?

    New LED Strobes

    Has anyone seen the new LED strobes that are replacing the flashbulb ones? I saw them on some plane a few days ago, but it was at night so I couldn't tell what kind it was. Are these becoming popular? Are they better than the Flashbulb?

    FedEX at TLH

    There are two Boeing 727's at TLH, but it appears they only use one. Anyone know why? Also- they just built a new cargo ramp over on the east side of the airport. Anyone know when they are movie over? Thanks

    Why no winglest on MD-80 series?

    Why no winglets on MD-80 series? Seems like I have seen them on every other large airliner, even the 727... Why not on the MD? Delta and AA have so many of them, and if they save fuel why not?
