I've seen a few new private jets with the bright LED's where the strobes are usually located. Are they as effective? Will commerical airliners begin replacing their flashbulbs for LEDS?

LED's are annoying to look at, but are much brighter. I think they are mesmerizing actually and seem to leave a visual trail when you look away.

We changed the old rotating beacons on the tail and belly to the LEDs. They are cool, but very bright, especially in clouds.

Are those the annoying ones that flash 3 or 4 times per second... like the ones on most GA aircraft?

I think the A320 series aircraft already have those, too.

Almost every light is converting to LEDs. Traffic Signals, auto brake lights, airplane reading lights are here or will be soon. All new instillations of taxiway edge and centerline lights are LEDs.

Why are threy only replacing the Taxi lights with them?
