I will never vote ALPA. Never ever ever. Sling all the mud you want.

That's your right. The rest of us will vote for you. Loving the new FSM yet? How about that great new BUF hotel?

If the majority has such a hard-on for representation, why the big push for ALPA? Why not internal? APA, SWAPA, etc...

Do a JBPA and control your own destiny.

Tried that, and the company fought us tooth and nail. Thanks again to SWAPA and CAPA for all the help organizing, but the guys spear-heading JBPA shot their wad. Hence ALPA...

The best union is the "threat" of unionizing.

Agreed, if all you're after are short term financial gains. Longer term issues like retirement, benefits, scope, M&A are only solved with a CBA. And management has conclusively demonstrated that they're not interested in a collaborative relationship with any bargaining unit.

For that matter, they're not interested in true collaboration *without* a bargaining unit. They only want to appear to fix issues, not take action. Not that they can actually fix the above mentioned items without a CBA. By and large, the law won't let them.

There's no point in demonizing management for what they can't do, only for promising that they could do them, and then running out the clock for years. We need to drop this delaying tactic and get some basic protections in place RFN. Hopefully, it's not too late.

Wait and see how ALPA does with the CAL/UAL merger and subsequent contract and list integration. I'm personally volunteering what time I have to help the effort.

I think this is a do or die moment for ALPA. See what the results are and make a choice based on the best information available to you.

Even if ALPA hopelessly mungs up the CAL/UAL list merge, having a seat at the table backed by a flawed organization is far better than having no seat at all. National ALPA politics and policies can't change that fact.

Besides, if we wait it out and ALPA proves itself unworthy in your eyes, what is your alternative? Status quo? Teamsters? In-house? Give me a realistic option.
