I was wondering why XO went with the Hawkers when both Netjets and Flight Options started to sell them off due to high MX costs of parts.
Xo is 68ing the hawkers.
Not that facts should ever get in the way of FlightInfo posts, but cldfsr the XOJet X flett in much younger than NJA. Based upon a a rough look of the FAA database, NJA has old 6 X's that are model year 2204 or newer (representing 10% of the 59 X's I found registered to NJA), vs. 11 XOJets of the same age repreenting 53% of its fleet. IN fact 84% of NJA's fleet is 2002 or older (17 2002s, 15 2001s, 9 2000s, and 9 from last century). Once upon a time NJA advertised it had the newest fleet in the business but that was a long time ago.
And be careful of what you say, becuase just a few months before XOJet repainted and refurbished them, NJ was flying them beat up, unrefurbished, in what ever condition they were in, but charged premium prices for it, and told and billed owners for refubishing the jets every 3-4 years but sytretched that to 8 years.
same question...i looked it up and found this-
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=68ing
68ing is the same thing as 69ing except one of the partners is fat
i was 68ing with lauren until she stopped for a food break
No official word yet, but all indications are the Hawker fleet is in disposal. It also looks like the pilots are being absorbed into the other fleets. 5 start C750 initial training next week. 3 have transitioned over to the Shuttle operation as well...more to follow
This is now confirmed. No jobs lost. All Hawker pilots have seats in the other fleets.
No explanation for the change in direction. However it's not hard to figure that out, with as much as they were down for mx.
What will happen to all of those poor copilots ready to upgrade in the X and 300 fleet? Bypassed by the hawker guys. Too bad for them I guess...

In a true seniority-based system, the more senior pilots may bump someone down the list, right? So yes, too bad for them. That's how it works. Seniority doesn't only work to everyone's benefit. But it's better than anyone losing their job, right? To be honest, I'm not sure how the integration will work out. We're just happy that everyone has a seat.
Left seat guys will go to the left seat, period. There are several airframes that are unstaffed.
That's how it should work. Company seniority should rule, that way you don't end up with a USA Jet-like situation, where it was "So sorry, we're disposing of XXX aircraft and you're on it, so you're getting furloughed".
Not sure if you understood what I was implying. There are many street captains that were hired into the Hawker well after many of the X and 300 copilots were hired. Also, many copilots upgraded into the hawker and were hired after many X and 300 copilots. So how does that fit into the true seniority situation you fortuitously brought up? If you upgrade using a merit based system does this reset your date of hire?
Are we talking about company seniority by date of hire or by some other metric?
Date of hire is pretty standard although having a separate Captain and FO seniority list has its merits as well.
Fair enough. I should have clarified that we don't operate under a true seniority system here. While what you said is entirely true, there are also almost 75 pilots hired into the other fleets AFTER those Hawker guys were hired. So in other words, it's a mess. The good news is nobody lost their job. The bad news is, our lack of a seniority system has reared its head again. Nobody should be surprised, they knew what they were getting involved with when they took the job here. We'll see what comes of the situation...
Odd, as the captain I am flying with is more than 50 spots junior to myself. 1000 less hrs in type as well. Date of hire seems rather lacking, no?
If you're going to fail at something, fail quickly and move on. I guess that's what is going on here.
It sure does. That's a shame.
n the "customer side" of things, we wwere told the Hawkers were being brought in to be more efifcient for some shorter (but not short) flights and flights with 2-4 pax. The expectation was the cost would be 65%-75% of the cost of a flight on the X/CL-300. ON my end I know that never came to be -- every time I got a quote for a trip the Hawker price was about 90% or more of the price of the X/CL-300. Initially I was told this was until they could figure out the cost structure and flights. But better to try and idea and bag it early if it doesn't work than lose lost of $$ trying to prove it is not a mistake.
I am still hoping that we find another short range aircraft to do the small stuff with (like a CJ3 or something).
Note to all who misread my posts: my intention behind each of my posts is not to inflame or bash NJA or any other provider -- my intention (after reading what is posted on here) is to provide facts from a different viewpoint -- as a consumer of private aviation services. Other than in sales meetings and literature (which I can discount), I do not get the "ra ra - we are great" cheerleading sessions many of you may attend your respective places of employment, nor the "hang in there it is getting much better" speeches. The posts are just my unbiased experience.
Do we have a pool for how long it takes JJ to post that I am not an owner. I"ll take the 2-4 hour window box. It is a Sunday morning and he is cleaning his thongs in a hotel bathroom somewhere.
