The East hasn't had furloughees for years and has been hiring for over a year, the West still has furloughed pilots who chose to remain furloughed. Doug has promised he will not hire West for at least another year.. Not even to replace West retirements, but plans over 300 new hire East next year... The threats against the East pilots haven't helped you make any progress, even though the Nic is part of the TA (the one Silver said can be renegotiated)... Even so the East pilots are unimpressed with the threats of someday damages. "The pay me now or pay me later" option is easy.. Sure, we'll pay you later.. We promise.

In case you haven't noticed, the APA pilots are far more bold in the face of threats than the East pilots ever dreamed of.

Sure thing. We promised ALPA they would be voted out if they didn't fix it.

Keep good notes for when the courts allow you back in. Suggest you get a really big piece of paper, draw two vertical lines near the edges, and then get out your pen.... write lots of stuff in between the lines and then whatever falls outside a wide range of reasonableness, put that in the margins. Then estimate what the things in the margins are worth... multiply it by 200%, multiply by the number of years you haven't had it, subtract your court costs, divide by the number of years you have been donating to AOL, and multiply everything by zero.

Then add your lawyer fees back in. Presto. Nothing will cost too much.

What happens if the merger does not go through? Is the East going to continue to bleed over this dispute or figure a way out to solve it? Status quo seems like complete financial stupidity. Seniority is great but getting stiffed $60/hr seems insane.

Both groups may remain at am impasse if no merger occurs before or after AMR BK. There will be substantial movement on the East—8 a330s in the next 24 months years and a lot of retirements followed by ETOPS Unlimited a350s.

The two list status quo could be perpetuated by new hires enjoying substantial seniority movement. "DOH? Why not." :-(

The advantage of seniority movement can be severely tempered though by only having 1 week of vacation, and pay that is 30% + lower than industry standard. A lot of folks here have forgotten that this is a j-o-b and a way to put food on the table, yet the infighting and self destruction continues.

DUI Doug has never offered those rates; if he had offered them there is no doubt we would have them. Heck if he would agree to move 50% toward them we would have them.

Why pilots are so gullible as to attack fellow pilots for management's injustices is beyond me. Ha, if I knew how to make millions by getting pilots to fight, I wouldn't be a pilot!

Technically INCORRECT, the company said in the Addington trial that they would expect to perhaps pay an additional 7-8% on top of the current offer of 3% increase (of the AWS wage while under ALPA). That is $142 X 1.11 = $157.62 an hour. YOU COULD HAVE HAD THAT IN 2007!!

We could have been negotiating a SECOND post merger contract NOW (like Delta ALREADY DID - EARLY).

You sad sacks have bucked and weaved yourselves into the lowest wage in the industry all for the legally flawed chase of Date of Hire. REMEMBER: NO court has EVER overturned an arbitrated seniority list (just ask Mike & Randy. Hey, aren't they retired now?).
