CAL is 12... I'm not sure how many of those are immovable/golden or whatever you'd call it. They can roll your days like crazy, though.

From what i hear, my brothers at the bottom of our list are unhappy because of 2 reasons: seniority stagnation and sitting continual Reserve. Most of them still like flying their individual SWA trips just not in the context of being at the bottom with all associated trappings. Next year's contract will deal with the Reserve issue and only post- Nov 2012 and and improving economy will fix the seniority issue. It s*cks for the boys at the bottom....I get that. Yes, I do feel very fortunate to be where i'm at.

As a poolie I'm glad to see this but then again it's Newark, and I hate Newark.

That's what I mean. Why are some of these guys getting all excited? Am I missing something?

Bottom line: Neato-mosquito you work for Delta and fly to neato-mosquito places. For some of us, being a pilot produces a paycheck. I try not to tell people I'm a pilot. I saw flying as a way I could make a paycheck for 40 yrs. I reasearched the airlines. SWA has never furloughed, their people loved their job, they pay well, they plan very conservatively, and have historically grown consistantly. That was worth a $7k gamble for me. That's it.

He is held in high esteem by all, struts through international airports with his double-breasted goon suit, and essentially lives a much better life than the rest of us. If you can't get that through your thick head, I'm afraid you're doomed to the mediocrity of the non-legacy airline pilot lifestyle.
