Not every plane has CPDLC. And when you don't have the APU, you can't fly on a regular track that has been set up for everyone else, which means MORE money being used to fly a random route closer to a shore (KEF, etc). It may be more favorable to fly on a seperate track, but you can't when you don't have that APU. That is why it RARELY happens. Get it? Did you fly with a lot of broken planes when you were flying your "INTL Supplemental??" That's just great for you. Were you flying Rich International DC8s? I bet you were...... Must have been FUN....???? And honestly, the sudaes are great.

Bye Bye---General Lee

Uh, right....

Now let's be clear GL -- there is no restriction on being on the NAT system with an APU inop. Not sure what it is you're flying but if it's the 300ER then you are OK (if using a Boeing MEL) except beyond 120 ETOPS. Again, there is an area across the Atlantic where 120 is possible and it includes the area where the tracks are normally constructed. So, as long as you have your HMG you CAN fly the tracks if you remain 120. Maybe you should re-read the Orientation chart or have paid better attention to the Nav class designed by that Int. Supplemental carrier ATA. And no, I didn't fly for Rich nor did I fly a lot of broken equipment across the pond. What I did do was listen to a lot of those old Supplemental Captains -- those guys knew there sh1te about crossing the pond and having a good time. And yes, the airline I worked for then was synonymous with fun on layovers, I wouldn't trade those days for a gazillion sundaes.

For the millionth time, please stop feeding the troll, people.

Please folks can you give it a rest with this fool. If everybody would just ignore this idiot, you may find something useful. I get tired of scrolling through his 14K pieces of garbage. IGNORE the Troll.

True, true, I should know better than to vent on him, but he's just such an arrogant, egomaniacal blowhard... reading his drivel just makes me want to puke. I'll try and ignore the troll.

Dear General
As you can see I never post in FI. While I sit in my hooch on day 4 of a 60 day rotation in the desert, I want to thank you for the several minutes of mild laughter you have provided me here. Your errors and so egregious that they are quite funny. You are completely clueless regarding what it's like to work at SWA. You are also terribly ignorant and misguided regarding how we are paid for the work we do.... I'm serious about this. I came straight from the A.F. to SWA in 2004 because I wanted to fly for a major passenger carrier and I heard Southwest was a good choice. 6 years later, I have no complaints. I like the flying, crews, and am generally happy with our mangement. You commenting about our culture and ops would be like me commenting on what it's like to fly at Delta Internationally. IE no personal experience=no complete knowledge. Regarding your continuous rant over the multi leg Texas 2-step... (I'm senior enough to bid what I want) and once every couple of mo.s I specifically bid to fly a six leg Texas 2-steps. Why....because I enjoy it... Usually great crews (Dallas Gals) and the flying is still fun. Please continue to rant about Southwest for the next 54 days so I can continue to chuckle over your posts, this will help pass time quicker.

Mitch,

I personally know 3 HOU based SWA FOs (I fly E145s as a Capt in IAH), and they all work very hard. They tell me about their trips, and 2 of them left CAL for SWA and now wish they had not. You may be senior, but the junior guys at Southwest do get worked hard, and my 3 friends tell me about it all of the time. One said he often does the "California Shuffle", back and forth from SNA to SMF or SJC, with at least 5 legs or more during the middle of his trips. I told him "at least the wx is nice in California", and then he stated he does the same type of stuff out of MDW in the winter, and it drives him nuts. Not everyone enjoys it, and if you are senior you may be a lucky one.

And one more thing about Gen Lee, he is funny. He may not get it right all the time, but he is humorous. Everyone likes to get their panties in a wad, but just accept it for what it is, entertainment.

Crazy... to leave CAL, I wouldnt.

From what i hear, my brothers at the bottom of our list are unhappy because of 2 reasons: seniority stagnation and sitting continual Reserve. Most of them still like flying their individual SWA trips just not in the context of being at the bottom with all associated trappings. Next year's contract will deal with the Reserve issue and only post- Nov 2012 and and improving economy will fix the seniority issue. It s*cks for the boys at the bottom....I get that. Yes, I do feel very fortunate to be where i'm at.

Mitch,

Don't know how many contracts you've been through here but "fix the reserve system" aint gonna happen. That only helps the junior guys on each list. The deserving group is the senior guys. They are the ones that have had the hardest time dealing with the limited open time, darn lances, only 5 weeks of vacation.

The young guys will have plenty of tiime to make it up. I mean heck, they'll upgrade in 4 or 5 years and even get to spend an additional 5 years in the left seat on top of that! How dare they rock the boat.

On a serious note..... God Bless you my brother. Thanks for what you're doing. Be safe and hurry home.

Gup
