thanks again,

I am enrolled in Thomas Edison State College out of Trenton, NJ, they have an online program for aviation, that really doesn't help since I already have a AS from Riddle with all that. Plus I am just not interested anymore.

Using my ability to speak Japanese and Portuguese pretty well, that will rack up the credits for a Humanities degree with a concentration in Language.
This is about the fastest track I can find with sincere interest, other than just something I am not interested in.

Knowing and speaking those languages sets me up to be evaluated for 4 hours at NYU to qualify for up to 18 credit hours towards my BA. I should be pretty close to finishing after that, maybe a year from now, because of the other courses that are required.

Thanks for the replies and advice. I am very interested and I am being sponsored by a senior 320 CA. He doesn't think there should be a degree issue, knowing that the qualifications lists only a HS diploma, with his knowledge of my background.

At some "pressure point" (my term) the HR folks will turn on the "update" function of the online app process. At this point they don't have to. It'll happen, but I couldn't begin to guess when.

The lack of a degree is not an absolute deal-breaker...but at this point, everybody that's scoring well has one.

Having a type (with PIC experience) in an NWA aircraft increases a candidates score on the matrix.

How long does it usually take to get a call after you fill out the e-mail they send you? Anyone?

thanks again Occam! as always!

there was one guy that posted somewhere three weeks, alot of the responses on here are around 5 to 6 weeks.

I'll second the thanks to Occam and Nu. Good info all around. Also, good call Guam on the update. I too am trying to finish online, but through Riddle and didn't even think about how update when I finish. Thanks again everyone and good luck Guam.

How long has everyone been waiting from filling out the first form, until getting the email with the app?

Holiday schedule is weird, but I was in yesterday yakking with the HR team, and they're still sorting, calling, and inviting as they wade through the stack.

e-mails go out after the 2nd "human" review. (a computer, then two mammals, review each app)

Can take a few days...or several days.

Interviews Tue-Wed-Thur which diverts at least one of the "reviewers" during those days.

The decision to turn on the Update function is "weeks away".

Editorial: The HR team is composed of people, who despite their daily contact with them, still actually LIKE pilots!

Amazing...

Hey guys and gals,

It's been a little while since I received the good call after the interview and was just wondering how long it is taking others to get the call to schedule the physical? Also, I'm kind of curious if this is just like any other Class I or if it is a little more in depth? Thanks.

If it's the same physical they gave back in the late 90's, be prepared for an all day event.

FULL workup, including fasting, cardio, hearing test in a booth, and not one, but TWO eye exams.

I don't remember if they make you sing "moonriver" with Dr. Jellyfinger, but I wouldn't be surprised.

I thought the medical is done on the same day as the interview, is it correct? If not, does that mean I have to fly back to MSP for their medical??

Thanks

Although I don't know what the physical consist of, it is just a 1 hour, 30 min event. They fly you out and back home on the same day. No fasting required.

Drug testing is the same day as the interview. You have to go back to MSP for the physical if you pass the panel interview/sim ride.

The drug (pee) test is the day of interview.

The Medical exam is at the same location (park nicolette airport clinic) it consists of a standard 1st class medical. start with Pee test for sugars/albumin. They do an EKG on you regardless how old you are, and the hearing test is done in a "quiet room" using headsets where you push a button each time you hear a tone. The eye test is done on one of the "look into the box" type machines. If you wear contacts you have to do it with and without them on. In the exam room the doc listens to your breathing taps on your stomach, chest, does a knee tap reflex tap. Takes you pulse and BP. Has you stand stand with arms out eyes closed for balance, bend over and touch your toes, snap! on comes the rubber glove for the "turn you head and cough" About 30 minutes, 1.5 hrs with the paperwork and waiting room.

I'm local so i drove in. One other was there from MSN, pretty sure he was flown in/out same day. if you are really far away I'd assume they'd pay hotel but dont quote me.

hope this helps
