Unions don't save jobs...and it is "lose"

Lose vs Loose

A lot of people are mixing up lose and loose. In particular, a lot of people are writing loose when they really mean lose. Here are the definitions of the two words from my Penguin dictionary:

loose [lOOs] adj not fastened or pre-packed; not tied up or confined; able to move freely; not tight, not firmly fixed; not close-fitting; careless, inaccurate, vague; dissolute, immoral; not closely woven;

lose (p/t and p/part lost) [lOOz] v/t and i no longer have; be deprived of by accident or misfortune; mislay, fail to find; fail to get or win; be too late for; be bereaved of; waste; be defeated or beaten;

Don't be such a ****************************** and fight for a better CBA so that Netjets doesn't loose Capts or SICs.

I am trying to help make NJA as healthy and profitable as possible, enabling the company to hire and retain as many pilots as possible. I want the same things for pilots as union people do, we just disagree on how to accomplish these good things.

G4, what struck me about your previous comment was the inherent resignation that NJA will not be competitive in maintaining its pilot talent with legacy hiring increasing in the near term. This certainly doesn't have to be. Collectively, as a private sector association, we have the leverage to seek enhancements that would provide industry leading compensation. To achieve this, we will need the assistance of the entire group including the GLC folks. NJA can be very successful while still providing an industry leading agreement for its pilots.

A) The GLC is dead. The new FOM revision excised every reference to the GLC. Jusssss sayin.

B) In order to garner the support of the G4/GV fleet pilots, it might help if the usual suspects on the message board STOPPED THEIR ANGER, JEALOUSY, AND RESENTMENT party EVERY TIME a former NJI pilot dares to post. Or even when they don't. The "get-even-with-em-ism" is staggering and totally counterproductive to the stated goal.

C) Isn't it interesting that there are exactly TWO former NJI pilots on union committees (Travel and Safety) and ZERO former NJI have even been ASKED to serve as a Steward or on the Negotiating committee?

I just love the "sit down, shut up, pay your dues, but do EVERYTHING we tell you to do and swear an oath to union brotherhood" attitude that I see EVERY day on the road and on the boards.

You want "assistance"? Start cultivating it with respect instead of spite.

Relax and go easy on the Caps chief. Please don't inject false motivations into this discussion.

How is it going with the G guys quitting for better pastures anyway?

We're up to five or six since integration by my rough count with another half dozen planning retirement in the next 12 months.

We've also had about 10 flight attendants bail in the last 18 months with a handful more interviewing.

It's okay. We know you hate us. We're used to it. And it's a huge part of the motivation. Admitting you have a problem is the first step to recovery.
