More like it was a piece of junk from Jade and fell apart

Dont know what exact shape it was in, but management said that the finance company did not like the price and the old man would only pay cash for it if it was garunteed on contract for a couple of years.

One of the old Jade 747s sits on an obscure ramp in Shenzhen and hasn't moved in almost 2 years. It is being held hostage by the Chinese govt. for Jade's failure to repay their former employees and creditors. It is supposedly owned by a German banking group. There is no true bankruptcy in China, either you pay off your debts or your assets are squeezed by the Government if they had any ties to a bankrupt organization like Jade. Last I heard the debt for Jade exceeds the value of the airplane so until somebody coughs it won't move.

The price was high, was full of corrosion plus half of the mintenance records were missing or incomplete. Also rumored that the creditors / banks wouldn't move on the price. There are some out there the old man just needs to get them at his price (and we could do with some).

The rumor around the crew room in CVG is that Kalitta got a contract for 4 more 747s for DHL.
