Hey, I agree (of course) that I don't think any current Delta pilot should be furloughed for a parking of planes that weren't on our original property.

As far as Delta potentially parking ALL of the DC9s at once, I don't see that.



You choose to forget the fact that NWA brought more cash to this merger. That cash will be the life support for the new Delta and help pay for future aircraft. Good comes with the bad so if Delta parks NWA planes then we share the pains.

Lets not forget NWA is Smaller than DAL but brings almost the same amount of cash and revenue.

Wait a second, I thought one of your own, matter of fact, several of the NWA folks here claimed just like the below quote.....

Thanks; I'm gathering information here as I have to make a decision in the next week and half. I'm at your former carrier with a class date at Compass and I'm really in a quandary as to what to do, but that will be for another thread.


Think much will come out this week in the way of the joint contract?

Depends on what where you are on the list now. If you are towards the bottom I would make the move, especially if you live in one of the compass bases. Compass could be a good deal it just depends on what happens with the merger. Good luck in your decision.

Its a moot point but by size comparison NWA does bring more. Arguing this is pointless anyway because its all about to be combined regardless.

The point is that at least SOME NWA guys would be protected. It would certainly make a difference if we were in the shoes of one of those 320 guys. The DAL junior folks face a different outcome which should be taken into consideration.


Delta is actually getting new airplanes. 6 new 777LRs (lots of crews to add--those planes need 2 Captains and 2 FOs for ultra long haul flights, and that is why we are getting the LR version), and 6 new 737-700s this year (more next). If we were to park an additional 15 MD88s, I think we would be covered with those new planes. Also remember, the new work rules for NWA will mitigate some furloughs IF THEY HAPPEN at NWA. I don't think they will unless management decides to do a mass dumping of the DC9s, and I don't see that yet.
