What's embarassing is that it must suck to be a SkyW pilot these days when all the other commuter pilot groups are pissed at you for something that's outside of your control. If ther tables were turned I'm sure there wouldn't be any ASA, Comair, Mesaba guys out there being pissed off that they were getting a/c from other airlines. What do you ASA and Comair guys want? You want the SkyW guys to refuse to fly the new routes or jets? Get a grip!

As far as the Union goes - That's up to the pilot group themselves. They can be the only ones to decide if they need representation. With the new pay proposal from management - I think it just might be time to have a union on prop. 1-5% and NADA for the 120 drivers just isn't right.

As for the 70 for 50 pay - Once again leave that to those who fly those jets. Are you going to say the same crap to the crews at Alaska for flying the 900 for the same rate as the 400? Maybe it's the other way around? Maybe the 400 guys are getting the better deal flying the 400 for 900 rates?

I would suggest spending your time improving your own working conditions instead of bashing the guys at Skyw for situations that are outside of their control!

My $0.02c as a former SkyW 120 driver.

Baja.

You will be singing a different tune if/when the skyw pilots take your 727 because they are willing to fly it for 50 seat RJ wages.

Vote in ALPA? And then what? Be like a lot of those ALPA carriers?

Sleep on the airplane during short overnights?

No pay for mechanical cancellations?

Half pay for deadheading?

No profit sharing?

Do standups just for flight pay?

Other than the 700/900 have rates that are lower than ours?

I think this pay proposal sucks and have already voted against it. But some of you guys are so full of $hit it ain't even funny. You have no idea what you're talking about.

Man...thats odd, I work for an ALPA carrier, and I still have better work rules than SKW, the only thing Im missing is the profit sharing and the 700/900s. Which IMO could be considered a moot point when your flying the 700/900s for 50 seat rates. Do you know what YOU are talking about?

The Kool-Aid drinkers aren't even afraid to admit their drinking the Kool-Aid. This guy doesn't even know how crappy his contract is!

I most certainly do! Maybe YOUR carrier has all of the above, but many don't. And that's the point.

I was a union member longer that most people on this board have been flying. I don't like Kool-Aid of either flavor. Skywest doesn't have the best situation but you know you can put an ALPA carriers name after each of the examples I posted above.

The only thing I see I don't have is the standup pay.

You guys continue to believe you're in Mickey Mouse world but the market is changing. You guys will have your come uppance one day. Better to get some protection now.

And for the record, I've talked with a few SW guys that want to see this move foward. They don't trust the company and rightly so. History has proved time and time again that without protections of a legal contract, the work force will take it on the chin when the chips are down.

I am not a big union fan and there are many shortcomings too but I'll take it for now until we find we other ways to make this thing work.

SKYWEST, INC. SELECTED FOR ADDITIONAL REGIONAL JET FLYING

ST. GEORGE, UT, PRNewswire/
-- SkyWest, Inc. (NASDAQ: SKYW) announced today that it has been selected for the first allocation of regional jet flying related to an existing Request For Proposal (RFP) by Delta Air Lines, Inc. (Delta). The first allocation of aircraft consists of 12 Bombardier CRJ700s, previously operated by Comair, Delta’s wholly owned subsidiary. The aircraft will serve markets from Delta’s hub in Cincinnati and will begin to transition to SkyWest, Inc. in February 2007. The aircraft will operate under a contract flying arrangement with Delta. SkyWest, Inc. has yet to determine which of its airline operating companies will operate the aircraft at Cincinnati.

There you go. I'm sure if its awarded to ASA they'll refuse to fly!!!!!!!!!!!

This could be interesting.

My point SSDD. Everybody is going to look out for their own interests.

I think we all know ASA won't get it. The "we haven't decided" line will be used to influence the next round of negotiations. I doubt ASA pilots will jump at the chance to take a concession just to be given the opportunity to take someone else's job.
