I like using the Garmin G3X Lean Assist but it seems to lock the EGT values at the point of going lean. Or am I seeing something wrong? I need to check again but I'm at the point where I like to come out of lean assist mode so I can see actual EGT's. I believe when in the lean assist mode it will just show offsets from the peak but I want to see the live numbers so turning it off after mixture is set seems to be what I prefer now.

I seldom use lean assist but, when I do, I seems to behave exactly as document in the G3X Touch Pilot Guide -

And per your screenshot, the values are locked. You won't see actual EGT's when lean assist is enabled. I believe. It seems to freeze at the point it goes blue and then you get the delta's at the bottom and I don't care to be doing math, I want to see the EGT values. So I use lean assist, once all blue I then disable it and I get my real time EGT readings again.

The peak EGT values at the top of the bars are added in Lean Assist mode. They don't exist when Lean Assist is not active. Dynamic readings of actual EGT are replaced by dynamic delta EGT.

Nothing that was displayed before Lean Assist was activated becomes frozen when Lean Assist is active.

Yes, we're talking the same thing, I just want to see my actual EGT's all of the time and not delta's. In my recent coil pack failures the first indication of "wrong" was high EGT approaching 1500. It's all personal preference, I just want to see my real time numbers, for now at least.

If you use Lean Assist then exit the mode after you have set the mixture. That is the way it is intended to be used.

If you want to see changes easily then use Normalize mode.

I've always left lean assist on so maybe I'm finally doing it the right away using it to find LOP and then turn it off. I haven't tried normalize since it came out, I need to look at that again but I think I prefer to just see actual values and not delta's. I recall normalize just marks a point and then shows the diff from that point?

Sometimes a search for Garmin documentation does not return the latest version. I have found this link useful -

Normalize mode displays absolute values of EGT (not delta) unless Lean Assist is also active.
