I used American Flyers. No $50 and no trip to the FSDO. I spoke with a Ms. Kennedy at the Charlotte FSDO and did everything via IACRA and emailing scanned documents. Very easy process.

Was at the Ritz in Montego Bay this past weekend. It was nice. We used universal and everything went really smoothly. Do lunch at the White Witch clubhouse if you get a chance, great view. It looked like a really nice course.

I just got back..stayed in Grapevine. There was not a whole lot to do that I found, although I didn't really have time for it anyway. I went to the Stockyards and that was cool for a few hours. Cozymels was pretty good mexican food. That's about all i've got for ya.
I searched Aspen but couldn't find anything addressing the climb gradient on the departure in VFR..obviously you'll see and avoid but for planning purposes do you have to meet the gradient for the SID?
Also, where do you get the escape procedure that you mention?
I'm working on a performance problem coming out of Aspen. As far as gradient:
"This SID requires the following take-off minimums: 3100-3 or 1000-2 with a minimum climb gradient of 460'/nm to 14000'."
I'm not gonna be able to make the 460/nm gradient because the problem is for summer, 25C...
