Wow Gen, I've been lurking this site for years. Almost never post. You are a piece of work. Enough, Left your beloved Delta six years ago. Resigned my senority to leave for SWA. ATL chief pilot said I don't blame you. Different stokes for different folks. 17,000 dollar month last month. Worked my ass off. Don't do it every month but its always available if you need to. Did it working 18 days. Great layovers are nice but what we do in fourteen days here takes eighteen at Delta, maybe more. Senior Fo' s are easily knocking down 250k a year at 17 days a month.

That's great. I made close to the same amount you did, but 46 fewer legs. You will re-think your decision soon enough. Your stagnation due to the merger will feel like our last decade. It can't be helped though, with one fleet type, you guys lose one Capt then move up one FO and hire a new one. With a legacy, the top guy leaves from a 744, then 11 guys move up. There are 4 years in a row coming up here (around 2020) that have more than 800 pilots leaving in one year, with even the next year after that at over 650. It just keeps going and going, while you max out at about 150 per year. It doesn't help with that younger AT pilot group you merged with. How'd you do with the merger anyway?

When you left 6 years ago, things probably weren't great. But, I doubt that same CP would tell you the same thing now. Try not to dwell on it too much. Enjoy that paycheck and 50 legs a month. You only flew the Md88 at DL, right? You do know there is a lot more variety than that, right? DOH!!!! Oh well.

No doubt both airlines are great, but there is a big difference. You'll figure that out on your own, and you'll probably never forget the Chief Pilot's face. It was your choice 6 long years ago, remember that.

I see ALOT of 767 lines that have four days that pay a whopping 21. Not even close to being productive. Gone for four days and really not making much. You guys need a payraise or better rigs.

On the 757/767? Which base? Some FDAL only bases do have 4 day trips max domestically (LA, SLC, NYC, and ATL). Some FNWA bases (MSP, DTW, SEA) on the 757/767 have 5 day domestic trips worth closer to 30 hours. Then look at the INTL trips. Very productive. Up to 12 day trips, with shorter ones too, all very productive, with some close to 40 hours in 7 days(multiple crossings).

And Red, if you don't like the 21 hour 4 day domestic 757/767 trips, you can always bid UP to the 765 (6 day LHR trips or 6 day FRA trips worth 35 hours) or A330, 777, or 744. That's something called variety, or options. If you don't like your trips on a certain plane type, you can move up or down to improve your schedule, the quality of trips, etc. That is a good choice to have.

So, I'm glad you like your easy trips that don't pay very much, but when I'm on the road I like to make max coin. If I'm away from home, I want to be compensated well.

I just fininshed a three day that paid 25. I have a simple transcon turn coming up that pays 9.5. Back home by 3pm.

There are some pretty stark differences between the two companies. I like ours better. I'm glad your happy with yours, I wouldn't be.

On which plane, Red? A 777 guy I know in DTW flies three 3 day trips a month from DTW to PEK (Beijing) or PVG (Shanghai) and gets 81 hours, and flies 9 days max. He's not tired because he gets over 6 hours each flight in a lie flat bunk, and he is home 21 days a month, getting paid a lot.

You don't take into account multiple fleets and trip types. That's why you fail (in Yoda voice). Variety, look it up.

I can do that doing 2 easy, minimum paying 3 days (at straight pay) or with a more productive 2/3 combo.

How about 12 days away and then 36 off? Put one 12 day at the beginning of one month, and then one at the end of the next. Or, you can do turns to the Caribbean that are worth 7 hours and be home every night, and not do 5 legs a day. Variety and choice are great.

If you are senior in category, like I am, you can. Remember the 744 and 777 FOs make even more, and there are ways also to swap trips. One more thing, flying INTL means if you want, you can fly up to 120 hours in a month, but the 1000 hours of flying per year still counts. Not that I would want that, but you COULD easily do that in a good month. Greenslips help too, and I live in base, so that helps. Swaps work even with a turn, you can swap that with a 3 day Stuttgart, and boom, you have an extra 15 hours. Do that with a couple turns, and it's easy. And being senior, ensures I get most of the swaps I want.

Slaquer, I continually prove you wrong. Learn to debate, but first get some facts. You are embarrassing yourself.
