Looking at the SWA website shows five flights/day all flown by AirTran. I'm just surprised that you are dropping a very heavily traveled route and letting DAL have it all.
I would bet 95% of the passengers we haul out of MEM connect on to somewhere else. SWA is all about point to point markets (70% of SWA customers don't connect). SWA will identify the markets out of MEM that generate a high percentage of nonstop customers and fill that need with the appropriate amount of flights.

That model has seemed to work OK since 1972.

Wrong. Anyone who actually enjoys leaving their family is not as happy at home, there is no comparison between the two. And even equating leaving your family to a "mini vacation" is sick.

So, you cry each time you leave your family for work? They know I have to go to work, and since I have to work, I actually like going on "mini vacations" to Europe or wherever. You KNOW you are going to work hard, that is because your trips are ultra productive. Great for you. I know I will be going overseas, to an interesting destination with great restaurants. Pilots usually have to leave to work, and hopefully your family understands that (you can do turns though if you are senior enough). So, YOU are wrong. Whatever you do, don't sob on the way out the door....

"They" are his mom and "Uncle Steve"(the AirTran guy), he only leaves to go to his vocational councillor, so he can get a job at the pizza place, clearing tables and shaking the lunch sign. And no, even the Genny can't knock up a plastic love doll, although he tries mightily.

Let's see General.

You say that we work hard and are ultra productive. Guess what? YOUR RIGHT. That's where your payrates fail. Even when you say DL will make more shortly.......guess what? You won't because you aren't productive, much less ULTRA productive.

So in fact, YOU'RE wrong.

I like being ultra productive for two and a half days,(making more than my DL brethern) and then being home for 4-5 days in a row while the General is gone for 7 days.

General, you really need to shoot for SW+20% to get close to our ultra productive payscale. Good luck with that! Haha.

You've been on this message board for almost 11 years. That equates to almost 4000 days, and that also equates to over 4 posts per day every day for the last 11 years. Sadly, this board is more likely your family.

Uhhhhh, 40 hours in 7 days is more productive than any of your trips. INTL long haul has no limitations if you have a 3 man crew or more. You max out at 30/7, and we don't. I talked to a CAL 777 FO (now UAL obviously) and he told me he usually does a "Teli-Delhi"--- or a 3 day trip to Tel Aviv from Newark, comes back at 6am into EWR, gets a hotel room, and then a bit over 12 hours later flies nonstop to Delhi, India. How much does that equal in 7 days? 56 hours. Now that is productive. You are WRONG.

And the DL pilots got a 16% raise last year (Jan 1st to Jan 1st of this year), and over 20% in a 3 year contract. GK is looking for cost cuts and wants to become a true LCC again. Good luck, and keep the bar high.

Racist? What would you eat in ELP? I'd eat Mexican food. Wow, sounds like you are getting testy.

So, you're a "long haul" airline now? Riiiiight. You still have 7 flights a day from DTW to MDW, and somebody has got to do that, but....not....you.... Oh-Kay.......whatever! Riiiight. How many flights a day between DAL and AUS, SAT, HOU, AMA, MAF, LBB? Long haul, eh? Hmmmm

Look, you started this, and I've ended it. We have different styles of trips, but my airline has variety and choice. Enjoy the only 3 day with 6 legs at your airline, and lemme guess? It's worth 34 hours, right? Sure.

no, it's only worth 30.1
