Who the FU&$K are you to say what is a mistake for another person, who YOU DONT EVEN FUC&$KING KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND WHY THE FUC$&K DO YOU CARE???????????? You have a sickness and a dang superiority complex! Do you not realize that nobody gives a rats a$$ what you think they should do with their lives? Nobody cares if you make fun of their Green Bay overnight! Nobody cares. You are a broken record that has so little joy in his life that you only derive sick pleasure from poking others. You don't get to decide what makes people other than you happy, or what they should or should not do! Get it????

Somebody needs a chill pill! Look, I can comment on people not taking an opportunity. If they want to come on here (anonymously) and give a good reason why they didn't take it, then great. But, it was an opportunity that MOST would take in a heartbeat (no interview, no medical, no testing, nothing), and with retirements coming up, a GOLDEN opportunity to beat the rush of eventual hiring. It's always best to be in front of the wave (like I was in 96). Many cite reasons like they didn't want to be away from their families, or be in a NYC crashpad, etc. But, that really isn't the case. Right now MSP MD88 FO reserves are not doing much flying, and everyone has to start somewhere, but the upside was enormous. Oh well. I just wondered what they were thinking. It was a great offer at the time, and I just can't understand really why some turned it down.

BTW, if people like GRB in the Winter, then FANTASTIC. Not me.

jynx. I wanna go to a major one day but your post is spot on man. Way to prove GL is a total dumas...

I kinda see what's going on here. You're a little clueless on the history of the flow. The first set of guys with the option to flow were too old to make the math work (and I never said they were 64, see post #54 if you need to review, you have a problem reading but we've been over that) with the Northwest payscales at the time. Additionally the loss in earning (which was a 5-7 recovery time) they would not be able to continue pouring into their 401k either which makes matters even more frustrating. The wage at NW was unsustainable and not worth the investment in time unless you had 7 or more years left.

You say they are regretting their decision, that may be a possibility. You have to remember though, a lot of these pilots aren't handicapped (like you), and they realize no one had a crystal ball, so it's easy to forgive yourself. In fact I would hope that happens almost immediately. They made the best decision with the information available and making six figures with 15-19 days off isn't a terrible life. Even if we do furlough as a result of the bankruptcy they will still make six figures with 15-19 days off. I really don't know how better to spell this out to you... but I am comforted in knowing you choose not to understand anyway. I regret not playing the powerball 3 14 20 39 40 37, but I have yet to play powerball because I don't have a crystal ball. So my regret is superficial, just like theirs.

I feel you are projecting your regrets onto other pilots, and I'm curious why that is. You have some horrible regret that causes you to hide in the magic porn box in an effort to distract you from your own life. Whatever you've done, it's ok, try to move forward and enjoy your life. Whatever mistakes you've made and pain you've caused yourself will ease with time. So let the adults talk, and you go enjoy that overnight. Also, it helps to read a book, get back in the habit, instead of just seeing whatever you want to see.

I find it bizarre that you answer that question if you've spoken to some of our flows. If you had you would realize the paycut has been tough on more than one of them. I suppose it is possible you have spoken to a few flows and not run into the guys who have had hard times (but still manage to smile), I know I haven't talked to ALL of them, but it's been a mixed bag. Perhaps you give the same sort of attention to people talking as you do to reading, I'm worried that may be the case.

You should talk to some of our guys that went to SWA, who knows they could be making more than you. When you looked into your crystal ball why didn't you decide to goto SWA when you had the chance? Is that the deep well of regret you have that makes you bury yourself into this site so much? Perhaps some of the SWA people here can help you out, it's never too late.

Do I have a regret? Heck no. I really enjoy my job, from day 1, and still can't understand why someone would turn down an offer that included NO INTERVIEW, NO MEDICAL, and NO TESTING, and just get a class? That might have been the BEST offer in aviation. Everyone can see the payrates, go look on APC. The 1st or 2nd year may be lower than most senior Captain RJ spots, but that is normal when starting over. But, that is very myopic. You have to look at the overall picture, including better benefits, better retirement plans (our DC fund is good, 12% of what we make each month into a seperate fund, plus an additional 2% matching on our own 401Ks), and variety in routes and planes. Tired of one plane? Go to another. Tired of NYC layovers? Try Tokyo next. It's just great, and I can't believe some turned it down. Amazing.

Could SWA pilots be making more than me? Probably, but I wouldn't do their flying for that pay. I flew at the commuters (what they were called back then in the early 90s), and I don't want to do 5-6 legs per day. That is their business plan, they have super productive trips. I would rather fly over to Asia, have 24 hours off, and then go to Honolulu, have another 24 off, and then back to LA or SFO, etc. I can fly more domestic if I want, and there are some fleets that do multiple legs per day, but I don't have to do that, whereas those SWA guys DO. No thanks. And, their CEO will be asking for givebacks soon, so even though I wish them the best and want them to hold on to every penny, I don't know if they will be able to.

Thanks again for the debate, and good luck with your airline and future.

What did he prove? I was talking about recent flow up, not NWA flow up. WRONG..... I stated that from the beginning. Way to prove NOTHING.

I was hired with some Mesaba flow ups and many are still on the bus in DTW with me. They seem happy to be here.

Godspeed!

Flow "up" to a bigger plane with a much smaller paycheck??(is that REALLY up?) Yah makes sense when you have 20 years left, but not 5, or 10...unless you live to fly, rather than fly to live...

When are you guys going to learn to stop feeding the troll? Lee WANTS you to respond, so he can flame you again with his broken record BS. Don't you know he's gunning for 20,000 posts so he can have eternal bragging rights as the biggest dork on the internet?

If you want to win, just ignore him! STOP FEEDING THE TROLL!

Between GL and OYS (same person) he already has 20k.

When this guy offers up a softball for anyone to hit, I don't mind taking the time to do it. If you think ignoring the guy will work, go right ahead, but I think that's a little simplistic. GL/OYS obviously has a huge problem in his real life that forces him onto this board night and day, that drives him to post no matter if people listen to him or not.

You have to start somewhere, right? Oh, you expect the same pay and probably the same seat......within 3 years you are close to make the same, and at 5 years you pass it. You can also move up or down aircraft types, which can increase your pay depending on whether or not you are a line holder or not. If you are 61 years old, then yeah, maybe it wasn't a good move to flow up. If you were younger, that might have been a mistake. Also, if you are that old, you might be "used to" your schedule, the old guy driving the van in Alpena, and you do know the ATC freqs by heart. Anything new might be difficult. That's understandable.

The only softball you have hit so far is your admittance that unless you were 61 years old, you made a mistake by not flowing up. Looking at today's financials for your company and the legacy, it looks like hindsight is 20/20. Wow, some people were myopic indeed, unless they were 61 at the time.....

And again, you can look back at OYS posts from years ago, he was a furloughed pilot from another legacy, and never used to post at all about any of our topics. Go take a looky...... he just recently became interested, since he became employed somewhere maybe??? Thanks Remington Steele and your cohort Angela Lansbury over there..... great sleuths...
