It's rather simple really....

All that you have to do is read the business journals and you'll see 2 very common themes throughout the majority of interviews:

1 - The business community understands that the current prez is anti-business and they have ZERO confidence in him leading this country out of the recession sooner rather than later.

2 - The business community is not sure what the cost to them is going to be with mandatory healthcare, wall street reform, new taxes, etc, etc, so they are preparing for the worst and hoarding their cash.

So would you mind explaining to us the 2,000,000,000,000 in cash sitting in the coffers of big business today that could otherwise be used to invest in new jobs, manufacturing, equipment or God forbid higher wages (and thus more spending by us consumers)? There is a record amount of idle capital on hand today and giving them further tax cuts (or keeping the Bush tax cuts) will not suddenly and magically loosen their wallets..

Not advocating all out socialism, but there is a happy balance... and the pendulum has been swinging towards business since the early 80's... the same time debt has sky rocketed.. productivity has sky rocketed and wages and quality of life have taken a plunge..

What's wrong with this picture?

More like they are holding the economy hostage until their raping and pillaging is allowed again

I agree that they aren't onboard with the President...nor the Country's economy. More of the same from corporate America.

Its funny how you folks stick up for the rich. The richest guy on the board is probably NJOwner (with all due respect), shuffling around from deal to deal. Not a line pilot or an NJ pilot or retired "millionaire" pilot. You're all broke in comparison.

I have to be rich now to stick up for the rich? And what does the richest guy on the board have to do with anything? Kind of a goofy post. The poorest guy on this board is still richer than 90% of the people in the world too. But really has nothing to do with where this thread has been going for the last 10 pages. Business owners are hording money because they don't have confidence in the direction of the US. But you guys already know that. You're all sharp guys.

Pretty funny jab though anyway.

I saw the New-hire "First All-black-all-female" ASA crew Captain walking around the Delta Campus a few days ago. It must have been true about the VP of diversity saying she would be the first new-hire.

Anybody flown with her?

I did when she was still an FO. Excellent pilot, great attitude. I have no doubt that there are some who get their job because of a quota, but I personally believe that in this case, she is qualified.

Now, why we need a VP of diversity is the real question.

Good enough for me.....somebody who has flown with her has all the credibility in this case. The guy I was in the hall with told me it was her. I looked it up online and sure enough.....

Leo Mullin and his 43 thieves (VPs)......how many we got now, any idea?
