Letter from MEC Jumpseat Committee, July 8, 2008
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
July 8, 2008
To: United Airlines Pilots
From: UALMEC Jumpseat Committee
[/U] We will request management to instruct our agents to not process them for a jumpseat or issue them an OMC card. Ultimately, the Captain has final authority on access to his or her jumpseat. Your MEC Officers have unanimously endorsed this course of action.[/B]
The fly is about to get swatted.
P.S. - Where the he!! are the people in Herndon? Shouldn't they be involved in this wildcat manuever by these UAX JS guys?
Would the mainline pilots accept the same answer if the shoe was on the other foot?
Stand strong UAX pilots.....Unify and stand up to the mainline pilots....I will stand with you and support the war if they are so stupid to allow it to go so far......
Trading one deadline and ultimatum for another. Don't pick a fight that you can't win, UAXers.
You really do live in your own world don't you? Why is it you think the UAL pilots control your JS? If UAL has the gate agents stop the processing of UAX pilots jumpseating on all united flights, then chances are that will cause the agents to not process UAX pilots on UAX flights as well. So in essence you will loose access to your own JS as well. The UAX captains can take the initiative to ensure the JS is properly assigned, go up and supervise the process. Good luck to you on this matter, all you have done is force the UAL pilots to do is defend theirselves on this issue and create a huge divide between pilots.
Oh...BTW Pipe, those are UAL domiciles. have fun with that. god you guys are arrogant! just fix the DAMN problem....issue over.
I'm not sure I'm following you. As far as I know, all the agents in those domiciles use United owned computer terminals and links.
If UAL locks out UAX employees in CASS, no gate agent will be able to let a UAX employee on, even on their own plane. Even if I'm wrong about a couple of gates, the station will pretty much be shut to you.
I said yesterday that this would happen. I don't have any sources, I just know how pi$$ed people are.
Seems like UALPA is spending more effort to lock the UAX pilots out then to fix the problem........
How dare the "little people" stand up for themselves.....
Sounds like you didn't read our MEC message.
I'm an ASA/DCI pilot....But I will stand with my fellow UAX pilots....At least they know how to come together....Something ALPA and Mainline pilots haven't figured out.....
Mainline pilots would never accept not having priority on their own aircraft....Why should the UAX pilots....If the shoe was on the other foot....the mainline pilots would be whining more than a Garrett....

I'll help you follow him. DEN, SFO, LAX and I'll throw in ORD, too, are all UAL domiciles where UAX does a large amount of flying. Express flying that plenty of UAL pilots rely on to get to work.
Fix the problem. Don't start a war. The UAX letter was meant to get UAL's attention. Don't give us this crap about how ALPA doesn't use the jumpseat as a negotiating tool if you plan on denying UAX jumpseats 3 weeks before UAX does if we don't rescind our 'ultimatum'. This wasn't a problem until 9 months ago when UAL and UAL MEC changed the priority on their behalf. Do what's right, and change it back. Don't bull******************** and say UAX management should put up cash to implement the change. UAX management didn't create the problem.
Are you under the impression that an online company pilot needs to go through CASS to get on their own companies aircraft? If UAL locks out UAX employees in CASS, no gate agent will be able to let a UAX employee on, even on their own plane. Even if I'm wrong about a couple of gates, the station will pretty much be shut to you.

We have control of the gate through our computers and agents, see the post above.
And yet, you won't solve the problem... Hmmm
