US Airways Pilot/FA Recall

If we were previously on the 190 and have been furloughed for over 1.5 years....what kinda training do we go through if we get recalled back on the 190? I heard anything less than 2 years is some kind of short course.? I can't find that info anywhere..

We have a Long Requal (10-24 Months) and a Short Requal (120 days -10 Months).

My guess is you will go through a full initial after the Requal Indoc because you have not been actively flying a US Airways aircraft.

It's also easier from a scheduling standpoint if you are a paired crew with someone who is upgrading.

We are going to be very busy in October. We all have been waiting for this announcement for a few months. Lots of good news today.

Don't quote me on this, but I think if u have been off the equipment for less than 2 years, they will put u n a long/short course. No, i'm not making the name up. It consists of 3 days of ground school (each day 1/2 systems, 1/2 instrument procedures trainer). Then 5 total sim sessions (2 sims and then a MV followed by 1 more and then a loft). Then on to OE.
 
This is great news. This is my first furlough so can someone clear something up for me? They say recall notices in the form of letters are going out. What happens if they send 40 east letters and 20 guys bypass? How do they know how many recall notices to send?

Also, how many will likely bypass the first round?

Recall rates, overall, are roughly 65%.

The letters are going out Monday for a Sept1st class. Plenty of time to send out the first batch and see who accepts or passes.

Welcome back to all, East and West. Furlough blows. Hopefully, we have turned the corner and u will be gainfully employed as long as u want to be. God willing.
 
I would think that at least the initial 40 east recalls are likely to go to the 190 and that anyone with some sort of decent paying job would be foolish to come back on the first call.

There are 100 EVLA (LOA - voluntary leaves) 73 East/37 West. Expect only 6-10 to return.

The 224 does not include the EVLA pilots.

Involuntary pilots include 140 West/84 East.
 
There are (I believe) 142 former AWA pilots that are presently furloughed. The announcement states that they need 80 pilots (40 west, 40 east).

Now to the seniority issue: Regardless which list you use (Nicolau, Nicolau - Lite, DOH w/ C&R's, DOH, etc), the former AWA pilots are senior to the pilots that are presently furloughed out east.

That said, don't you think that those furloughed former AWA pilots be allowed to bypass a position on the east first before they are offered to the junior pilots. If you are looking for an example: When things were great and we were growing like crazy (prior to fall of 2007) we were expected to bring ALL furloughed US Air pilots on board (east or west) prior to hiring any new hire pilots.

Cactus, I think I understand what you are saying. I agree that that would be fair, but as my friend tells his kid, the fair is where you go to eat cotton candy.

I have no complaints about that, but I cannot see how that can be arranged, given the state of affairs (two unmerged lists). I guess my speculation would be more accurate if reversed. That is to say, what happens after all the East furloughs are recalled, does the airline hire new pilots, or do the West furloughs get the jobs.

I think what you said is the most equitable, but also very unlikely.

Let's see how long we can steer clear of the animosity. We are almost to page 3!

Pretty sure what I've been hearing from the USAPA folk is that all involuntary furloughs will be brought back before any of the evla's. Maybe someone else has a little more info on this??

With only 87 east furloughed, I'm guessing out of the 87 that at least 20-25 have found aviation employment elsewhere not counting career changers who may not return. These 40 recalls with deferals ought to get pretty far down the list. I really find it hard to believe that the company would hire off the street with pilots still furloughed on west. This would just create another poop storm for the comapny and usapa. I think there is zero chance of this happening.
 
Back to the main point -- the beer and bbq in CLT... I'll provide the boat (assuming it starts after 2 years of waiting for me to return...) and the perfect place for a HUGE BBQ when we come back (at the marina in CLT). I can't wait to see ya'll as soon as we get there.

I'll even be HAPPY in Philly (it sure as hell beats the sandbox...).

And Cactus, I don't know of any guys that found other employment that are still mooching off of USAPA. (Not saying there aren't any, but everyone i talk to that is employed is paying their own way...).

Now back to the homebrewed wine to celebrate.....

guys that are recalled in training in CLT will stay at the Holiday Inn on Little Rock road. For dinner walk out the hotel to the right - towards the 85 overpass, go under the overpass and turn left. Up a slight hill you will see Miguel's (looks like a hole in the wall but is really great) - best mexican and beer in CLT. About a 6 minute walk from the hotel.

USAPA... where senority matters (but only if you are on the east side, if not then tough ********************)
