If they are raking in cash each quarter, there should be no reason for them to furlough.

Hope management enjoys the 'new normal' on time rates.

You guys are the heart of the operation, can believe they would mess with that. Oh well.

wow...... tell us how you really feel... don't hold back....

Nope, gotta hold back on the true feelings. All those ridiculous and overzealous laws about threats across state lines and easy access to my ISP address really cramps my literary creativity in expressing my true feelings.

I think I smell something :D

Yeah, a huge corporate cleveland steamer with a reverse tea bag.....

Really pick up open time with your buds on the street? Are you serious? Better take a deep look inside?

Ask around. There isn't an airline out there that didn't have dudes picking up open time with guys on furlough. Only way around it to have it in contract like UPS. Otherwise, greed or "extra time lifestyle" will prevail.

this is pretty unfortunate. When UPS furloughs (and SWA nervously dodging the furlough disease so far...) the industry is really in the dumps.

good luck guys

Ups

Look, there is no need to furlough 3oo UPS guys, r u serious??? It is a political statement.

AA wants to furlough 178 MORE, wtf?? yet they want to spend 1.4 billion on JAL?

You forgot to add that AMR is also hiring 150 pilots on the AE side.

Bad news for the UPS pilots out there - sorry to hear about it.

One person you can also thank is Barry Hussein Obama (aka "the Socialist") and his proposed tax on interantional/multinational profits. That sure won't help companies with significant international exposure like UPS and Fedex. That will definitely impact the bottom line. Thanks to everyone on these boards who voted him into office.
Yep, it was Bama who started two wars while cutting taxes for his rich buddies. It was Bama who left this country deeper in debt than it's ever been and hovering on the precipace of another "great depression", with oil prices at record highs and U.S. currency valued at record lows.
Yep, that's worked so well.

Oil came down SUBSTANTIALLY during the fall & winter of 2008, GWB's last year in office; in fact it was in the mid-$40 range when Obama was inaugurated.

Also, the Bush Administration was in office as deficits & national debt soared (including keeping the cost of the Iraq war off-book, a crime against future generations IMO)...but thus far during Obama's administration both the deficit and the national debt have only increased. Did you see the Obama budget proposal that had a deficit around 40% the total budget?!? The government wouldn't pass a 100-level personal finance class with fiscal responsibility like that.

Just because GWB made a bad situation worse (debt) doesn't mean BHO should make it even worse.

That said, I'm constantly amazed at both the left and the right and how POTUS gets far too much of the blame when things go wrong...and far too much of the credit when things go right. I guess that's the life of quarterbacking this country, eh?
