UPS reported a Net Profit of $1.26 billion, with a "B"!!!! That's profit, after everything else is paid for, money in the bank! Yea, they should furloughing, times seem tough for them!

For the guy who asked if you would rather furlough 300 guys or take a 40% pay cut. Do you think a 40% paycut across the entire pilot group is equal to the salary of 300 junior FOs? Maybe I missed the point of your statement.

2008 UPS had over $26 billion in compensation / salaries (I can't find the pilot breakout directly, but lemme take a stab and say they take 20% of that number [albeit a very conservative swag], $520 million). 40% of that is $208 million! As much as I like to think I am worth that much, I am not, nor are 300 junior FOs!

Really pick up open time with your buds on the street? Are you serious? Better take a deep look inside?

I dont think it matters how much a company makes if they have extra people around then they really need, they will layoff and make even more..It really sucks for the employees but a way of life in the business world!!! It would be nice to see less multi million dollar bonus for a few and better wages for all!!!!

There are creative ways to keep the 300 especially with big profits.... however, pilots are not the only effected employees... thus a CBA comes in handy.

You see the problem that never shows up on a spreadsheet is the human affect. When you demoralize, degrade, and put an employee through a tremendous financial burden, how productive will that person be when he returns? Yeah, he is fully aware that he was just a number. I've seen first hand what it does to a pilot group (3 times in my career). It pisses off everyone. Save fuel.............yeah right. Not call in sick....whatever. Pick up open time .............NOT (except the Whoores). Save the company money with ideas that improve efficiency.......Yeah, let's give the manager's another bonus.

One CEO had it right, and it still pays off. That is old Herb at SWA. Take care of your employees and EVERYONE benefits. These CLOWN MBA's they pump put now from schools don't have a clue. I doubt they could run a lemonade stand on a hot summer day.

Bad news for the UPS pilots out there - sorry to hear about it.

One person you can also thank is Barry Hussein Obama (aka "the Socialist") and his proposed tax on interantional/multinational profits.

UPS is making lots of money and you are blaming the President for this??

Nope, didn't vote for him, but really.....?

I was using exaggerated numbers without any real thought to thier relative value, but it was to make a point. Eventually what would start as a modest pay cut would probably lead to more concessions. If you give a mouse a cookie....

It happens all the time. There were more then a few NJA pilots foaming at the mouth to vol for extended days as soon as the furlough notice came out. The TURDS always seem to float up when the flushing sound is near.

Good luck UPS guys.

Here is the "big picture"

UPS just received their membership renewal kit from Aircon.org
It includes a box of 3000 condoms monogrammed with "UPS". Aircon of course realizes the limitations of the typical airline manager, so the monogramming of the condoms is limited to 3 letters or less.

If you're a union airline pilot, and you suddenly become ill at the smell of something resembling that of a extended fart of a vulture that has been feeding on the rectum of a bloated, rotting carcass of a diseased pig that is slowly bobbing in the shallow brown water of an excrement filled open sewer, you most likely will find an AIRCON card carrying member of your airline's management nearby trying to fill his empty head with figures, charts and graphs as to what a overpaid POS you are.
