1. Live below your means

2. Save money so you have at least 6 months funding

3. Don't have a baby unless you have #2

4. Marry someone that can carry the load (ie. HAS A FRIGGIN CAREER or income potential) if you ever can't (ie. strike)

Sorry, I don't buy the "I am a scab because I needed to put food on the table" b.s. Should've had a back up plan.
Capt M.,

Beautiful. Simply beautiful.

How did we miss you?

Everyone knows that SWA is the holy grail for pilots.
we are going to put everyone else out of business after we get the Wright Ammendment repealed.

Back to 2005, my real dilemma is this...

... , I would never cross a picket line...so if presented with that situation, I would most definately refuse the trip and most likely loose my job.

Mabye you can see where I am coming from now....
I know exactly where you're coming from, and I appreciate the difficulty of the situation. I also see that you know the right thing to do, and I applaud you for it. I would hope that there would be an outpouring of support, financial and otherwise, to make you whole in such an event. I don't think you're the type of person that could live with yourself if you did the wrong thing.

Realizing what difficulties might lie ahead, I recommend you take your concerns to your union leaders now. Your union should let your company know ahead of time, in no uncertain terms, that you cannot fly struck freight. While you have a no-strike clause, you can't cross somebody else's picket line. It would be immoral. Save them the embarrassment of having an airplane on the ramp that they can't move, and maybe things will go a little more smoothly.

Just a thought...

She's female

You guys dont play well with girls

BTW I now realize your FDX not UPS
I know she's female.

I know I'm FedEx.

I know you thought I was UPS.

The last I checked, we had a larger percentage of women than any other major.

Was there a point here somewhere? :)

With an obviously intelligent, well-thought out and developed screening and hiring process that would preclude her "type" from ever gracing one of your cockpits.

And what "type" would I be?

Yeah, what type would that be?

And, hey, I told her to send me a photo, err, I mean resume, and I'd pitch in a recommendation, but, alas, she never sent me any photo, err, I mean resume. :)

:D

Well, for starters...

The type that thinks Dave Mustane is someone worthy of an avatar.

As for the real answer to your question(s), I guess the powers that be at UPS will find out sooner or later. For their sake, I hope it's sooner.

strike.

we may be a little ahead of ourselves (we shall soon see)

i would encourage those that have questions/concerns about the possibility of a strike and how it affects them (if at all) please don't get opinions (even those that mean well) from this board. contact the ipa and ask to speak with Tom Nicholson, president, a member of the executive board or a committee member and express your concerns with them.

i would hate for someone to mislead, purposefully or by accident, when it comes to something like this.

Hey, Vortex... I think everybody else had it figgered out a long time ago. Not everyone is as slow as you.

I speak for myself, and that's it.

One more time...

(I'm typing slowly for you)

right is right,

and

wrong is wrong.

:)

I say take who calls first. Say you go to Southwest and you don't make it through for whatever reason...You'll probably still be in the pool at UPS! Turn down either and I assure you, something will happen with the other. Don't turn either down, its bad charma...

Hey listen homebrew, I stopped reading your profile after I saw C-152, and C-172, OK? When I went back I noticed MD-11 which would make you purple. Then I wondered why you would put up such a magnanamous fight in a battle that is not even yours. Go down to German Town get drunk and get a life.

I was speaking to and about capt. megadeth.

I thought that was obvious.

I guess it's only obvious to everyone but you.

I am well aware of TonyC's employer.

OHHH! you were using sarcasm,,,that my friend is hard to detect on a computer. Sorry Mega, I dont always agree with ya but I think your alright, nontheless, Yank evidently does not.

Yet another demonstration of your ignorance. UPS operates MD-11s as does World, Gemini, and... well, several other operators.

And another. You must be thinking (well, maybe that's a stretch, but it's the word that'll have to do for now) about Germantown. I don't live there, and I don't drink there, but I drove through there earlier today. Nice town. I'd pick it over YIP any day. :)

You've convinced me, though, it's time to go. I'll be dining with my bride, now. In Cordova. :)
