Generaltso, we eat bag lunches from Chick-fil-A
Im just curious, what do SWA pilots eat on transcons? With no meals or what not, do you guys just grab stuff in the airport terminal or munch on snacks? Or do you guys have crew meals on board?
i hope Delta get's an awesome contract. I also hope they make way more money than us that way they can stop hijacking SWA threads.
The real question is can DAL pay more and make money at the same time? if so, for how long before they ask for concessions? UAL and DAL already proved that they can get awesome contracts...but they also proved their airlines were in no position to honor them for an extended period of time.

Good info, but nothing new. Southwest likes to evolve, and always will.
Actually, "evolving" is something new for SWA. They've historically been resistant to change their business model, but have found they have to, I guess.

Only the limpets who have seen it work for 40 plus years, however, folks like you keep advertising SWA's demise on a regular basis...Funny that some of the sw limpets here really believe GK and ST can keep outsmarting the rest of the industry, even though much if their success was due to a lucky bet. The gravy train is about to end.
Informative article. Funny that some of the sw limpets here really believe GK and ST can keep outsmarting the rest of the industry, even though much if their success was due to a lucky bet. The gravy train is about to end.
... much if their success was due to a lucky bet.
Once, when Napoleon promoted an officer for winning a battle, a grumpy General complained: "He's not skillful, just lucky."
Napoleon responded: "In that case, promote him two ranks. I have plenty of skillful officers who lose battles."
Congrats on the two rank promo. Must have been cool knowing Napolean.![]()
There have been SWA naysayers since I got in this gig- who think the "lucky" streak is about to end...
That's alright.
Keep betting against
How many years did the PanAm/Eastern/Northwest/United/etc. limpets see it work, before it didn't work?Only the limpets who have seen it work for 40 plus years
Oui. But I wasn't the lucky officer -- I was the grumpy General.![]()
The difference between past and present is swa has never been the big dog. They have always been somewhere in between a good regional and a major. Have always gone after the low hanging fruit. That low hanging fruit has not been as plentiful of late, thus the stagnation of the last 3-4 years. The Airtran merger is a very different game plan from the past. Swa has found out they have run out of easy internal growth. I guess we will know in 5 years or so if it is LCC pt. deaux or not.

It worked for them for about 80... So...
