Which is why they should have waited. But they were so sure of the legality that they wanted to reassure the Skywest pilots by sending out this memo. I'm also curious what their response will be now that they have been proven wrong and what the new memo to Skywest pilots will be.
The memo will be that the plan with go forth. The only thing that is going to change is in the marketing and selling of the tickets by CAL for the "UEX" flights. You can go right now to the CAL website and purchase a ticket on United Express Flight operated by SkyWest. The only change is that CAL can not sell/market seats in CAL coded flights with greater that 51 seats.

Per the ruling,
“Placing the CO designator code on the UAX jet aircraft with a certification of fifty-one or greater seats to and from CLE, EWR and IAH is a violation of Section 1 of the Continental/ALPA collective bargaining agreement. The Company is ordered to cease and desist advertising and placing the CO code on such flights.”

So now CAL will reprogram the computers to sell UEX designator codes on aircraft with greater than 51 seats. As long as the CO code does not exist, the flights will happen. Sucks.

United's website:

United Continental Holdings is removing the Continental code on certain United Express flights. Although we disagree with the arbitrator's ruling that has required us to take this action, we will comply with it. We are pleased that this decision will permit the company to redeploy 70-seat aircraft in certain markets under the United Express brand to better meet demand and improve profitability of the combined company. Due to this change, flight numbers between CO* 1100-1299 will no longer be available in our flight search results. United Express will operate these flights with the UA code until further notice.

So, if the company (UAL) is in compliance with the arbitrator's ruling, are the pilots going to back off the aggression and intimidation against the IAH based Skywest pilots?

None of the city pairs that were supposed to be operated as COEX from IAH are showing for sale as UAX flights on United's web site.
But they are on CAL's website for sale. Right now you can book a round trip ticket on a United Express/Skywest 700 from IAH to ASE. No Continental metal involved, only CAL selling the UEX ticket. This is the work around? I have not looked at the other city pairs.

The ruling was only that those flights could not bear CAL flight numbers and nothing else.

So at the end of all the bickering and inflighting, the 700's are still going to IAH and will be flying passengers that purchase tickets on CAL's website to those cities? All CAL has/had to do was change some coding in the reservation computer to a non-CAL flight number? I thought everyone was/is under the impression the arbitrator has "stopped" the 700's from flying out of IAH? I'm confused:confused:

No, it appears you can't work together. You are cheaper outsourced labor, and the Majors are now making more money and don't need to outsource anymore. The mainline guys want their flying back that was taken away because of cheaper RJ operators. UAL uses your CR7s from LAX to SEA. Why? Those sure are small cities..... In the meantime, Virgin America comes in and takes even more market share away. CR7s shouldn't be doing it, and you know it. Even though you can't do anything about it, you shouldn't think it is normal. UAL got rid of 94 737s to facilitate the merger, not because they couldn't fill them. Cheap outsourcing is bad for this industry and unfortunately you are a part of it. That practice needs to stop, which will help us all out eventually.

Alright bud, step back from the keyboard and take a deep breath. When I said things were going to get ugly around here it was in reference to UAL/CAL management-pilot relations. This, I believe is the tip of the iceberg for things to come. They are testing us to see how far they can push us before we strike back. They are testing uncharted waters and I have a feeling this whole 70 seat in CAL hubs experiment is going to bite them big time!
The battle isn't with SkyWest pilots, it's with UAL management. With that said, you will not be welcomed with open arms here in the CAL system. Unfortunately, you guys and gals will be flying routes that were previously flown by CAL aircraft protected by the CAL scope clause which is still in effect, even though the company is trying to negate it. You SkyWest guys won't catch any grief from me, but I can't speak for the other 5,000 CAL pilots.

So, as I feared, the flying will go on as planned. The lawyers and management win again. The only way this is a win for CAL pilots is when they WALK OUT the day this flying begins. But they won't. They will just blame management and Skywest pilots and point, shout, and whine. All the while they hold the ultimate nuke. WALK OUT.

Check your facts johnsonrod. The major pilots GAVE THEIR FLYING AWAY the regionals didn't take a thing. The practice of outsourcing was all a product of major pilot concessions. Im not for helping the major pilots anymore, Im for helping myself.

You are, by far, the dumbest person on FI.

The IAH-ASE flights operated DEC18-26 and resume on the 4th of JAN. That was never part of the COEX flying out of IAH. If you try to book on any of the other city pairs, nothing comes up. Nothing comes up on United's website either for any of those city pairs.

So this 66 seat CRJ700 flying for CAL out of IAH by SkyWest is ok? How does that work? It has a CO flight number right?

Facts? You need to review history yourself. That flying was taken from them in BK. If someone has a gun to their head (in this case a judge) are they really giving it away? You think so, primarily because you benefit from it. Take your blinders off please.

They are not roundtrips, the routings were built as UAL ORD-ASE-IAH and IAH-ASE-ORD. Same with the IAD-IAH routings. Other city pairs weren't built that way and those are not showing up on either CAL or UAL websites.

Are you really asking what I think you're asking?

Bro get some knowledge before you post this junk. Suggest you start with Railway Labor Act for Dummies. Then tell me how I have a prayer in court by walking off my job before NMB process. Then I suggest you read DAL vs Dal ALPA 2000 and UAL vs UAL ALPA 2007. Get informed before spotting off like a blowhard...

Hey Skywest pilots stay out of our IAH crewroom. You have never offerd to share yours so don't bother trying to come in ours.

Which crewroom did you want into so badly Chief?
All you gotta do is ask.

I hope your CBA has some language regarding private crewrooms, otherwise that crewroom belongs to SkyWest Inc.

Yeah, it belongs to Skywest Inc, NOT Skywest Airlines.

Just thought I'd throw that out there for the "two separate companies" crowd. I welcome Skywest pilots into my crewroom for for further ALPA education. :)

Yet you and other CAL pilots seem to want Skywest pilots to walk off the job over YOUR battle....How can you ask another pilot group to do what you yourself aren't willing to do over YOUR battle?

Skywest pilots are welcome in the ASA crew lounges. There you will hear about how ALPA really is the one who botched up this whole scope issue...The XJT folks seem to drink the ALPA koolaid more than those of us on the ASA side of the house...
