Hey Nimitz I can't wait until these aholes get a boot up the arse. Gonna be nice along with UAL mgmt.

Just remember YuppyGuppy we don't all think this way. Don't lump us all in as teenagers salivating at the chance of getting major flying.You would be generalizing unfairly. Keep it civil and don't make it a regional pilot versus major pilot thing here babbling back in forth does nothing. Take that anger and shove it up managements you know what. Management is the enemy plain and simple..
 
There seems to be a lot of animosity against the Skywest pilots but not for the Shuttle America pilots. My guess is its because Skywest pilots have repeatedly voted down ALPA representation and independent union representation. I wouldn't be surprised if ALPA has reached out to the Shuttle America pilots through the IBT to coordinate whatever strategy they come up with to fight this. If Skywest pilots were ALPA, or just unionized, they too would be able to participate in discussions happening right now between the SPCS, CAL ALPA, UAL ALPA, XJT ALPA, ASA ALPA, Mesa ALPA, TSA ALPA, Colgan ALPA, Commutair ALPA (ALL UAX/CALEX ALPA carriers) to coordinate whatever the SPSC and CAL ALPA come up with as a total game strategy and specific tactics to be used to fight this on ALL fronts. Whatever this strategy is, this information and direction will be dessimanted quickly to all the ALPA carriers involved through the SPSC to exert as legal much pressure possible to UAL management and we wouldn't have this infighting between fellow professional pilots. At some point, we all should band together for the betterment of the entire industry and stop being passive about it just because its convenient.

Just a thought.

The ONE disagreement on pay banding between UALPA and CALPA does not mean they are not united on scope.

The point is that the ALPA SPSC committee is fully spooled up on this. This committee is comprised of pilots from many different types of airlines. The whole purpose of the SPSC is to coordinate strategy and tactics between multiple pilot groups. Pilots of multiple airlines are being coordinated to fight this scope violation. Skywest pilots find themselves in the middle of a battlefield without any real say. Someone used the term collateral damage before. I think that is a very good analogy for this situation.

Do you want to be part of the solution or put your head back in the sand while everyone else is fighting this battle?
 
You couldn't save up enough money making $63K/yr to send a child to a state college?

Way to aim high for junior! Good luck living in The Northeast or Cali while saving dough on that coin. Then again, you are just an airline pilot. It really is a low skilled profession with low barriers to entry...:rolleyes:

That's not a good example, there are many other crappy jobs that make way more money and have better benefits than pilots plus their home 100% of the year.
 
You guys are missing the point that a professional pilot thinks $63K is good. Maybe you're one of them. Aim low, you'll hit the mark every time.

CAL pilots start out at 30k WITHOUT HEALTH INSURANCE...and yet you lecture us regional pilots...

I never said CAL 1st year pay is good. Remember that is a concessionary agreement that has been amendable for some time. Comparing apples to apples, what's the average 1st year pay at regional?? $20 an hour if your lucky, topping out in the $40's at the FO scale. If you ask me, $63K should be first year pay!

Looking soley at first, or even second year pay is extremely short sighted. By year 3 at the major airline your already passing up the average RJ Capt scale. Another thing to remember is you are not working for the first 5 years on the pay scale, your working towards the last 5.

Cut it any way you want Joey, $63K a year sucks for ANY pilot who flies a jet for ANY airline. Some seem content to settle for less, and remain there. Sounds like you.
 
Just think Joe, if you would have gotten on at CAL in 2005-2006 at the start of the last hiring boom, you'd be making more than 18 year CRJ-700 Captain. Actually, you'd be off the ASA scale.
 
Most of the regional captains I know who have stuck with it are making closer to $90-100K.

Where is this $63K number coming from?

Are they there yet? Don't get so cocky. And, did you flunk an interview at a major? Sounds like it. You are giddy like a little girl about RJs replacing more mainline routes. I bet you have a big "L" on your forehead.
