Taking over the world? Heck, we have trouble just taking over our namesake portion of the country.

I'd be very surprised if we ever exceeded 25 planes on property, none of which would be any derivative of the ERJ's.

It'll probably end up being 6-7 airplanes and presumably these new planes would be on property by mid-2006. It's been mentioned management wants to start staffing up, for the planes, right after the holidays. While this is a good turn of events, I'll believe it when the new planes are on the ramp. As for the Beeches, the last lease expires 2008. I wouldn't be surprised if the EAS flights are dropped when the contracts expire.

Hey Ace, if you step away from the keyboard and THINK about what I wrote, you'd understand (if you're truly a Skyway pilot) that "new" means former ACA FRJ's. Word is the MAG (Midwest Air Group) BOD has already approved the purchase of said "new" FRJ's.

As for the EAS routes, it's already been made clear the company wants to migrate to a SINGLE fleet type (ie FRJ). I really can't see an FRJ flying into MBL or IWD - so say "buh-bye" to those places. If we can dump LAN and LSE, what's to stop us from dumping other places, even if EAS? Why keep EAS routes if we can send planes to other more lucrative markets and build them up for Midwest (ie MSP)?

It's a government thing, mein...

EAS is put up for bid; Skyway actually outbid (read: underbid) Great Lakes for those routes a few years back, so in a way, you're right...it's doubtful that Uncle Sam would pay the freight (so to speak) for a 32 seat Dojet to serve Ironwood and Manistee when there are a host of other 1900 operators out there who'd do it for less. Mesa always seems to try to get more of those EAS routes - and why the heck not? Free money, right?

As far as aircraft performance - I don't have a clue about that, as I never flew the Dojet. For those in the know - can the Dojet get in and out of a 5,000' runway? Kinda curious...

You could do it. Could. It would have to be clean, though. The only short runways I've ever used is 26R/8L at GRR and 15/33 (maybe 13/31) at DCA. The one at GRR is right at 5000, and you take horrible takeoff hits for contaminated surface/anti-ice/etc. If you don't have a full plane, you can do it. Saves a lot on taxi time. I don't know if I've ever landed on that one, though. Don't know how that would work, I'd guess it'd be about the same. I think the DCA runway was more around 6000, which was more accomodating for weight penalties.
 
I landed on 26R/8L at GRR. For 5000' runways, you do need fair skys. As Props stated, the hits are pretty severe for bad weather.

My guess is you're either the "Hot Shot" doing the interviews or you're his boyfriend.

Looking at his profile, and other threads. I'm sure this guy isn't trying to get a job with Skyway, as Goulet implied. Maybe he perosonally knows the guy doing interviews?
 
I went to school with the guy who does the interviews...Raving psycho! Butchered 400 chickens and screwed a beagel. They're taking him back to Nevada where he's wanted for banging horses! (Only kidding, but what movie is it from???)

They were initially hired to help ramp up the training department for all the pilots that were supposed to be pushed through for the Delta deal. They had already been working for Skyway for at least a year and had substantial knowledge on the aircraft because of course they were teaching the stuff. When the Delta deal didn't go through and they wouldn't be needed as ground instructors anymore the company needed pilots. So instead of hitting the street they can now fly the line. That's the way I took the situation and I think these are the people being referred to.

if you get hired at Skyway, enjoy it, great people, great maintence(hey, they work really hard), and some really optimistic (and possibly true) rumors
 
Rumors, rumors, and more rumors...at some point they are going to screw up and actually make one of them happen.

That's worth sticking around for!
 
I heard that 100 pilots from SYX got hired at big brother and as a result hiring will continue at unprecedented rates. This will make the most junior guy coming off of IOE a captain by years end? Wow this is good stuff!!!
