MLK taught to judge someone by the content of his character, not the color of his skin. I missed the part where he said let's wait 50, 75, 100 years to begin treating each other with "color-blindness". OBAP is not correcting racism, it is perpetuating it by its divisive nature. Do you see my point?

Why doesn't OBAP seek out all underprivileged youth to mentor into aviation? Why do they selectively promote black youth? An organization who's function it is to promote aviation to a specific race is inherently racist by definition, regardless of who may or may not join the organization.

I think MLK would not have approved of any organization that promoted a particular race over another. It goes against the basic tenets of his teachings.

What if an organization used the term "white" in its mission statement? All hell would break loose, that's what. The double standard that they can get away with something they don't let us get away with is what bothers me.
 
No there isn't. However if I founded an organization that had a political agenda of helping whites to advance in aviation I would be labeled a racist and my posts would be deleted.

So what is your point? do you feel the need to create a white pilot organization when an overwhelming majority of whites do not have obstacles getting hired as pilots?

Really? No wonder everyone I know has been picked up by UPS, FedEX, Delta, etc...


Oh wait, THEY HAVEN'T! Everyone has "obstacles" getting hired. Why do blacks and other minorities feel they are the only ones? Racism. But it's ok for them.
 
How does the KKK discriminate or have prejudice?

FWIW, if you read history, the KKK didn't just go after blacks. They were a group of vigilante law enforcement in the rural south, and their mission was to keep order. Unfortunately, that included enforcing segregation. However, if it was learned that a white male was beating his wife, for example, the KKK showed up and took care of him. It was only later that its role morphed into a purely hate driven white supremacist organization.
 
Except they need more hours and better grades than any minority to get hired.

Being black or some other minority ya can fail a course, then come back and do it over again.
A white male would get fired for being lazy or stupid if he busted the same ride.

A black female pilot would be really fire-proof.
(Most airlines are afraid of a discrimination lawsuit..They would rather send the candidate back to school and hope for a passing grade next time. Then ignore the reality of future upgrade to left seat)

That's a load of crap FG.

I got all the right boxes checked that a civilian pilot can get. Honors grad, no failed checks, couple thou of PIC jet, check airman, heavy time, and sim check airman. Even with all those quals I still cant get an interview at UPS/FedEx (while they were hiring), and even now, at the major I'm pursuing, all my LOR's are from white dudes on property.

OBAP hasn't helped me in the slightest. So if you think that just being a minority will help you get the dream job, maybe you can give me some advice on what else to do to get hired. Maybe I should start over, fail some check rides, lower my GPA and never upgrade. By the time UPS/FedEx starts hiring again, I should be able to write my own ticket.

Unfortunately, I do know some folks that have skated into their dream job that were less qualified than me. They just had better contacts than I did. So don't paint the picture that just because one is a minority, that it's a lot easier to get that great job.

Whites DO NOT own the franchise on racism. You all just call it justified when you do it.
Call what justified? OBAP is not a discriminatory organization. Racism is never justified. Affirmative Action may be flawed but even it isn't racist. It's trying to correct a wrong perpuated by Whites. Perhaps not by you or me but by plenty of our countrymen.

Diversity is only required when otherwise forces prevent it. Once a pilot is hired his/her upgrade is based on seniority which is utterly colorblind.

Given we now agree though that race can play a part in determining check ride status should lower standards be given to minorities and seniority discarded until minorities make up a more proportionate part of the airline Captains?
