Dispatcher, you sir are not very experienced yet. I can point to countless times I have been given trips outside the U.S. with a pink slip. Of course I have always caught the pink slip and never left the country. Let's talk about 135 outbound clearance with customs.....How about Program Managers telling crews "we need pilots who will fly in the gray zone of the FARs."

How many custom fines has the company paid? Did you know that just as recently as a few weeks ago Canada Customs threatened to confiscate one of our airplanes? Three tours ago I was filed TEB PBI over the water route with a pink slip. Sorry but you really don't know what happens on a daily basis here.

The comments were based on the rules, not the mistakes.

BTW, I know with certainty that you have not been given "countless" trips outside the company with a pink slip since we have been enforcing this action. Little over the top there.
 
Dispatcher, I don't know if you are really one but I do feel for the dispatcher. How many flight plans do you do in a shift 50-60? NJA needs alot more of you. I have been here long before your department. It has been a big help and I could name a few (that I speak with on a regular basis) that do an exceptional job. I have also made it a point to pass along to management when a casino person has done a great job. I just wish the higher ups would get a clue how to run this place. How many VP do we have now 60 something? Yet nobody is accountable.

For years we didn't even have company core values until BH bought us. So, some changes have been good. The fact that the company put a freeze on hiring in the casino last year really hurt us in the long run.
 
When I read Flightinfo.com I take it with a grain of salt and believe maybe 2% of what I read.
A couple of days ago, I made a run to CMI and ran across a couple of NJ guys. I never spoke a word to them, but I over heard them for nearly 45 minute complain to everyone they came across (including other pax waiting for thier planes to arrive) about their working conditions, pay and QOL. Way to go guys!

Maybe, but the violation/fine will be the pilot's and no one else's. So, a little hyperbole on his part is excusable.
The whole procedure for leaving the little flourescent cards behind after a document swap comes from this. Buddy of mine passed thru CMH 2 years ago, dropped off 3 admin folks, went inside to take a leak and then ferried up to YYZ. In the 20 minutes he was on the ground, they pink slipped him. Didn't find it till he got back. Result: 3 days suspension for improper preflight. Of course, nothing happened to the lady who swapped out the documents without telling him.

And 284 wasn't much help defending him.

Hey just wondering if any of you were one of the 100 or so crewmembers excused from work mid-tour, and sent home at company expense to take care of your houses and family during one the busier weekends this month because of the hurricane?

It must be really awful to work such an evil guy as Santulli.

Netjets really sucks!
 
Its the right thing to do. What's your point Fred.

Who would not send employees home during an emergency?

Who would continue to work for such a company?

Who would want to fly as pax an a flight with the pilot whose home and family are being pounded by a hurricane. Will he be rested and able to concentrate on your flight?

Its the right thing to do and credit is given for doing the right thing.... But you don't get a Medal for it.

Any shift or office worker would not show up to work under the same circumstances. Anybody travelling on company business at any company would be allowed to return home.

We are doing the right thing but I would imagine a company that did not do the right thing in a case like this and had employees who had family casualties in a disaster that could have been avoided if the employee were allowed to take care of the home situation... that company might be open to law suits.

But that is not us. We are doing the right thing. The only decent thing. But you do not get a medal for taking care of your people during an emergency. Taking care of your people is a Leadership Responsibility.

We do a good job of it. But its not like we can opt NOT to do a good job of it. When you have an operation that depends on sending people on the road for more than half of their life... this is a COST of DOING Business.

Gunfyter, I agree with you 100%. This is a cost of doing business and it is the right thing to do. Not all companies feel the same way today. It is good that the company doesn't follow the letter of the law in this case, as there would not be pilots going home in the hurricane zone to take care of their families and their homes. It isn't always as bad as it seems between the company and the pilots.
