The rumor around the crew room in CVG is that Kalitta got a contract for 4 more 747s for DHL.

May not necessarily mean more airplanes, as we are only contracted for two with DHL at the present, but it would be nice to see more. Chief Pilot said the otherday, the old man is looking everyday and has frequent closed door meetings with people??

K4 doesnt operate in EWR anymore, the post office pulled the facility out of there, so all the flights go out of JFK.

Judging by the number of guys I have heard leaving for UAL in the next few months it will be soon. Assuming any of them want to come back. And unless they park more planes there will have to be hiring soon as well.

I used to know some guys there but some have been furloughed and found other jobs so they don't have current info, others have up and vanished and I haven't heard back from them in a looooong time. I still would like to work there, call me crazy.

5-7 classics still flying regularly. 7 guys on furlough only 2-3 willing to come back apparently. PW is still CP. Attrition's been steady at about 3-4 per month. I won't be suprised if K4 is hiring by spring.

Another displacement/furlough. Going from about 36 classic crews to 25. guessing about 20-25 pilots and 10-12 FE's will get furloughed....depending on how many FE's can move to the right seat.

I think they are going down to 4 classics to go along with the 7 400's.

The -200 market has fallen through the floor. The companies who adapted quickly to the -400 freighter are still around.

Even the -400 and the 747-8F market is changing. Comparing the 777F and 747-8F. The 8F can carry more freight shorter range and has the nose door advantage.

Long range, the 777F can carry more freight farther and cheaper.

The new 777-X Freighter will be something interesting.

The can displace if there is a vacancy, but this is just a curtailment. Our last bid was a vacancy bid, weird we just had a vacancy bid and ONE FE made the grade, hmmm something sounds fishy.

maybe they were fishing for FE's on that bid to know what would be the result of this and how many FE's would actually be on the chopping block. sort of gave them a chance...?

very weird what is going on. Business seems to be good, airplanes are flying, but there seems to be no effort to add new airplanes or grow the company. It's almost like a restructuring.

nope, quite which is not unusual. The company is not one to blow its own horn or tell us what might be in our future.
