I wouldn't crow about furloughs just yet, jackie. What do you think is going to happen when they start parking the 717s?

I guess in your world we will be just another PFT regional that furloughed...the point is Fuji, I do not harbor an institutional dislike of Alaska airlines, but it seems you do for SWA...and one must wonder that if your opinion of a company is based on the online musings of 10 or so anonymous SWA posters than there must be something more to it?? It may seem unfair that the pilots of a regional, PFT airline will retire with substantially more earned $$ than the pilots of a world class international carrier...that may not seem, well, fair...could this fact be what is really chapping your a#$

Again, I have nothing against SWA, just the arrogance of FI.com SWA posters.

No, you hate SW because we didn't hire you.

Arrogance? Calling a successful major airline a "PFT Regional" isn't arrogant? Especially when you purport to work for an even smaller major airline....... Not only is it arrogant, it's idiotic.

I don't believe you're actually a pilot..... My theory is that you are GL and OYS with yet another login. At best, you're an angry AT guy, but my guess is you're just another bitter troll with no career and nothing better to do with your life than to attempt to annoy the adults.

right, you refer to SWA as a regional PFT airline...

Just stating the facts. You had to buy a 737 type rating to either get an interview or prior to hiring, didn't you? That reduces the cost to SWA to qualify you. In other words, you paid for your initial qualification. If it walks like PFT and quacks like PFT, its PFT.

No, you hate SW because we didn't hire you.

I didn't apply. I didn't have $8K to buy a type rating just to get an interview with what was, at the time, the lowest paying 737 operator in America.

1. Your route structure more closely resembles a regional airline.
2. You have to have a 737 type rating to be considered for employment.
3. Bigger isn't necessarily better.
4. I never represented the fact that my airline isn't a niche player.

P.S. My Maui layovers are particularly nice in the fall/winter. Hope you're having fun in ROC and SYR.

I don't know about that, but shining the light under YOUR rock does seem to annoy you.

What makes an airline great? Is it the size
Of an airplane? The number of destinations outside the lower 48? Or the profitability and pay of said airline? To each his own.

The stability of the company closely followed by size of the paycheck for the number of days worked.

You state some facts. However, not all of your statements are fact.

BS.... Anyone as obsessed with an airline he/she doesn't work for has to have some history there. So, you're bitter because you couldn't afford the qualifications to apply to SW? I couldn't either, yet, here I am.

1. Your route structure more closely resembles a regional airline.

Really? You guys and all the other majors allowed the regional's route structure to resemble OURS (as well as yours). FWIW, I see lot's of Alaska Airlines airplanes with propellors on them in SEA and PDX.

2. You have to have a 737 type rating to be considered for employment.

Yup. This is common knowledge, and has been for 40+ years. You don't have one or want to get one, don't apply. We get plenty of applicants every time the window opens. BTW, the 737 isn't an RJ. You also need an ATP, 1500 PIC turbine as well as a bunch of other quals. Just like any other major. If you really have a hard on for PFT guys, go on the Gulfstream etc threads and chastise those guys who pay through the nose for a $17k per year job.

3. Bigger isn't necessarily better.

That depends on the context. I like my big paychecks and big time off. I think they are better than any regional out there, including yours maybe? I wouldn't know, because I couldn't care less about what goes on at Alaska Airlines.

4. I never represented the fact that my airline isn't a niche player.

Neither did I, yet, you criticize a much larger, more successful airline by calling it a "pft regional".

P.S. My Maui layovers are particularly nice in the fall/winter. Hope you're having fun in ROC and SYR.

My 5 acre backyard is particularly nice from now until April or so. I spend a lot of time in it because I make good money and get more than half the month off. In fact, I'm sitting by the pool typing this.

I haven't even been to ROC or SYR since my (non pft) regional days, over 17 years ago. Actually, I jumpseated to SYR on UAL (well, ACA, one of their now defunct regionals) a while back to visit some relatives. Does that count?

I don't know about that, but shining the light under YOUR rock does seem to annoy you.

Baffled is a more appropriate term. Why do you and your other personas hijack every thread that involves SW? There's got to be some deep psychological issues causing this behavior. I'm guessing deep rooted jealousy is at least one of your problems.

Why don't you see the SW guys hijacking the other airline threads? If we were so arrogant, wouldn't we be all over that?

Well, we serve international destinations AND Hawaii. So far, you're just wannabes...

I bet you would trade your paycheck for mine any day, you guys are just waiting for the other management shoe to drop.........ALPA AK has taken one management beat down after another..... keep it up fools and you will be in the same boat as 900 of your ramper's .....on the street we will see you in ANC and HNL soon enough.......how about the closing of your MD-80 base in Long Beach because you guys cried about driving to a reserve assignment ????? you may have Alaska and HNL for now but so what we have the money and all else and most of our flight attendants are not past social security age.

Tell that to Capt. "Gays, Grannies, and Grandes" Taylor. LOL!

Oh, I'm sorry....I didn't realize this is the high school boys' locker room.

Really? You didn't know that? I guess in that case, you're probably not gonna' enter the "who's got the biggest, uh... 'jet' in their pants" contest, either then, are you? That's usually the culmination of the 'best airline' argument. I guess I'll put my tape measure away.

Alright, alright, move along; nothing to see here. Back to your corner, or I'll wet-towel-snap your azz.

Bubba

PS What ever happened to my "Is tranny a four-letter word?" thread?

Imagine the sweet irony when Alaska and American hook up and Fucup gets stapled.

If anything happens we'll take AA, staple them and I'll end up as a 777 CA!

Because, YOU have pioneered all the arguments:

1. They're failing.
2. Their pilots will get a pay raise.
3. They should be GRATEFUL to take the staple because they're going from a craphole to a successful airline.

SWA reasoning at its best!

Hey, Fubijaakr,

Seeing as how you have absolutely nothing against SWA (just "calling out a few SWA haters on FI", in your words), and in fact, you are obviously the King of Fairness and Light, how do you explain this?

Fly-By-Cable (obviously NOT a SWA guy) says this:

Anyone who calls me Tranny in my face will be missing teeth. And I have the training to back that statement up. You wouldn't even know what happen when you wake up.
Does that clarify how I feel about the name?

I mean he actually threatens physical violence. That seems pretty harsh to me, perhaps even deserving of incurring the wrath of those who stand up for the poor put-upon and betrodden, such as everybody's favorite Alaska pilot. And what do we hear from Fubi? Crickets.

On the other hand, InstructorDude calls him out on his threat (first post of his I'd seen), and suddenly it's Fubi-the-Fair to the rescue:

"Instructor dude is a SWA pilot? That figures." Turns out you were wrong on that, anyway.

I mean, you seem to jump on every SWA post that comes up, taking them to task, for every thing you even perceive to be negative, but here's a guy actually threatening violence, and that's okay with you. I guess because he's not a SWA guy (or that he's threatening violence ON Southwest guys).

Hmmm..... how strange. Perhaps it's because maybe... just maybe... you're NOT just an impartial observer only commenting on injustices. Maybe it's because your numerous anti-SWA crusade posts have already labeled you as a hater, your halo is just a little bit tarnished. You're not really still trying to claim that whole "impartial" thing with a straight face, are you? Even the Airtran guys on FI can see your fingers crossed behind your back.

The truth? What truth--that you're a SWA hater? Heck, everyone knows that. I was just curious as to whether you're still pretending to be objective. It doesn't seem like it. I suppose that's for the best, seeing as how you weren't doing a very good job of it.

Bubba

Bubba- you've been a nice addition to the FI fam - but we might have to introduce you to the concept of flamebaiting troll.

There's no reasoning, bc they just want you to respond

Ie: don't feed the troll- ignore them and they get bored and stir up drama somewhere else- it's a form of entertainment, nothing else- a game at best

Again, for the umpteenth time...its not SWA per se I dislike. Its the unbelievable arrogance of SOME of the SWA pilots who post here.

Sure, I think the AAI guys would have done better with an arbitrator. But, they chose to lay down when y'all put a gun to their head. Oh well....

And I don't see why pointing out the SWA is the largest, most successful regional airline in the world qualifies as hate? I admire the fact that you've turned an essentially regional business model into such a great success.

However, just to give you some historical perspective, when we were flying troops to Vietnam and heavy lift cargo to the North Slope in the pipeline days, YOUR airline was flying 8 legs a day inside the state of Texas.

Your whole pay system (TFP) is based on a regional system. Your current modus operandi of avoiding major hub airports whenever possible (DAL, MDW, BWI, etc) is emblematic of a regional airline.

Hey, be PROUD of the fact that you are a cog in a megaregional that overpays you. Enjoy it while it lasts. Ask any UAL pilot about their early '90s heyday. Don't think it can't happen to you. In fact, the "no furlough" record you are all so proud of will probably go away when the God King starts divesting you of your new 717 fleet.

I just hope you're senior enough to avoid the axe.

Remember your words when WN enters Hawaii, and Alaska. See how long you guys can handle 99 dollar fares :)

I sure you are aware that our CEO has stated growth to these places along with other destinations. I take it as your calling GK a lying dog with no teeth. I guess we will see how correct you are.

PS I don't blame you for being scared and hatting SWA, your pay cuts will be blamed on SWA.

What axe, SWA just announced they will hire pilots. So for an airline that has never furloghed and according to you will, then why hire? Unlike your airline, SWA doesn't hire to furlough...oh yeah and then there is this
http://seekingalpha.com/article/297544-southwest-airtran-merger-will-fuel-long-term-value-creation

I guess wall street seems to think we won't be furloghing anytime soon. See you in HI.
