We have finally made name for ourselves in the industry by our flight attendants harassing off line jump seaters about cleaning the cabin after landing. Personally I have seen this happen myself. Has anybody had any problems either yourselves or your off line jumpp seaters?

a) stop stirring sht up

b) I wish every airline was as good to ALL jumpseaters as we are. If everyone took jumpseaters as readily (FAs and pilots) as B6 did, most of us wouldn't sweat out getting to work like we do.

c) one (okay, I'll give you a few) FAs don't act right and it is dealt with swiftly and with the correct level of guidance from the jumpseat cmt.

the system worked.

Next gripe.....
 
Well hell it's been at least a week since someone brought up the cabin cleaning issue, so why not? Bet this thread is 5 pages deep by this time tomorrow.

I was jumpseating on a US Airways flight a few weeks ago and was surprised to see the entire crew cleaning the cabin after the flight. When I asked the captain what happened to the cleaning crews, he said they went away this past spring except for transcons and redeye flights.

Yes, this was an unfortunate situation.

As you know, word from the top is that no jumpseater will be required, nor allowed to clean the cabin. That is something we do internally. Let's not allow a few flight attendants ruin our reciprocal agreements.

So JB jumpseaters, on arrival at the destination, a quick "thank you for the ride" is appreciated as you leave. Please don't feel you have to don the blue gloves.

For those of you who usually help out on your own, we appreciate that, but our management has asked us to respectfully decline your offer. You have enough on your mind already, just trying to get to work.

Well, we don't pay for the airplanes either..............

In all seriousness though, word from the top, is that while we appreciate the help, OAL jumpseaters are requested NOT to clean.
Some JB F/A's got the very wrong idea and we are working hard to put a stop to it.

So again, when arriving at destination, just leave the aircraft. If you are given any attitude, bring it to the attention of the pilots.

Wait til the earnings for 3rd and 4th quarters come out and its announced officially that we dont make money.

I think just treading water in this environment is an accomplishment!

BTW, I haven't heard anything about more fuel hedges in place. That disappoints me. I thought the top guys were supposed to be so smart. Well, I'm no rocket scientist but last Spring when oil dipped back down into the mid 40's even I knew that was the time to massively load up on fuel hedges like there was no tomorrow. I said so repeatedly at the time.

I knew the forecasts some idiots were putting out that the "oil Bubble" was over and prices were heading to under $30 again were just so much rubbish.

If JBLU top managment fell for that malarky, then I am very disappointed. And with oil perched in the high 60's and in no hurry to come down anytime soon, we will all pay the price....
 
I remember hearing the CFO say in the 2nd Quarter webcast that JB had purchased some type of catastrophic fuel insurance around $55/bbl. Maybe its time to put that into action. Anybody else know more about it?

Kid Char-- I agree with you, treading water is very good. What's hard on JB right now is got to be excruciating for many others.

Well why the he11 aren't you running our company??? It seems as though your magic eight ball is working, so at least lend it to our management!

As for offline jumpseaters cleaning the cabin...I make it a point now to include this issue as part of the crew briefing. Offline jumpseaters are not to clean the cabin, period. All the F/A's at JB were sent an email regarding this and most have, suprisingly enough, read it.

Chill, no one is ragging on you for cleaning the cabin, or not paying for your airplanes etc, etc..... This subject was OAL jumpseaters getting asked to clean the cabin. End of topic. You all are very gracious with your jumpseat and it is appreciated, but let's leave it at that. This is not a JB bashing thread or does it need to become one.

As companies grow in size everyone has the small 1% to 2% that sometimes have their own agenda, or take it upon themselves to see things "a different way". It seems you are taking care of the problem internally. Good for you, and thanks for the ride. As Forest said " That's all I got to say about that".

I thought airline hired cleaners for dumping the lavs and cleaning the cabins.
The blue shower is a really crappy job.

I do not mind cleaning the cabins, it is when I am forced to dump the lavs that raises my blood pressure

I used to do that in college. Remember to jump out of the way when you pull the lever. Just in case the hose disconnects and you find yourself under a sh!t shower.

We had a handful of overzealous FA's who took it upon themselves to "suggest" to offline jumpseaters that it was expected that they help clean up in return for the "free ride". It isn't expected and never has been. In fact, if they'd read their mail they'd know that they are strictly forbidden to do any such thing to our guests. A few pushy broads didn't get the memo apparently, or decided that it didn't apply to them, and they made us all look bad.

So now we're saying that not only isn't it expected that you help out, we really don't want you to even if you volunteer. This isn't an attempt to turn away gratitude, but to keep more abuses like the above from happening again. I will personally bounce off the A/C any working FA who even hints at such a thing again. I am just disgusted.

i had a FA shove gloves in my face the day that memo came out...i had not read it....being new at JB and a little shocked i did help, i was working crew...i was going to do it anyway.....but after that i wont help unless NOT told/intimidated/strongly,uncomfortably suggested! it is not a requirement for pilots to help but a nice thing to do if we have time. which i am happy to do the 95% of the time i have time!

gee i only have 4 years and 9 months left on my contract!!!!!!

AHHHH, the REAL Jetblue! I'll take my E-jet time somewhere else, thank you!

You can terminate your contract any time ....

You are absolutly correct. Be sure to let that FA know that as pilots we are responsible to perform our own duties first then we may help with their cabin prep duties.

I like most JB pilots are happy to assist.
 
Give me a break guys, we have all had nasty flight attendants give jumpseaters a hard time. At least B6 mgt came out with a memo.

hey Booster...lighten up francis.....if you read the whole thread.....you will notice that my contract statement is more sarcasm directed towards those who dont' work at JB who have a problem with such things such as signing contracts, helping clean cabins, how we pay for the airplanes...etc.....

also if you read my previous post in its entirety, you will see that i stated that I am happy to help in the back. i just won't be intimidated in doing so.

Please do! btw...where are you going to take it? no sense in coming to JB with 100 aircraft firm and 100 options after that! 1st airplane isn't even here yet. good decision.

Yeeaaah.....why don't you call us back when you at least get an ATP and a few thousand hours of PIC turbine before you make such a bold statement.

To any jumpseaters that were ever put in a compromising position of helping the FAs - please except our sincere apologies, it never should have happened. A lot of us were disgusted over it.
