Actually, it wasn't a bold plan but rather a stupid plan. I'm not the least bit surprised. I hate to see people lose their jobs, but having a tool like Oz running the place what would you expect?
You are missing the point. The point being that we need people that want to be here. I don't want fly with anyone who plans on using my company as a backup plan until he or she gets recalled. Most of our guys do a great job. However, occasionally you get the "honor" of flying with one of the...
Unless NetJets is exactly where you want to be, don't waste our time. We don't want you. Stay at the crappy airline that furloughed you. There are a lot of pilots that consider NetJets their number one destination. Unless its yours as well, stay away.
What was your class number? What color was your hat?
I wouldn't worry too much about how your buddy did on his interview. The truth is that good flying skills are a small part of this job. Think customer service. Approach the interview as if you were trying to get a concierge job at the Ritz...
Yep. That was me. Here is how it all went down.
We were ferrying into TEB for an owner trip. Everything seemed to be going normal until I received an AFIS message from the the company. To our shock and horror, we were informed that our crew food was inadvertently sent to Stuart. Felling that I...
I've been in the Excel for almost seven years now and have been based on both the East and West Coasts during that time. I can tell you, without a doubt, that life as an East Coast Excel guy blows. Life as a West Coast Excel guy ain't that bad.
If you are coming to the Excel, all I can say is...
I'll field this question. NetJets is without a doubt, "Super military friendly". I have never had a problem getting time off for drills, active duty, etc..
Not only that, the company takes time to send care packages and other stuff to those over in the sandbox.
EXACTLY!!! I wish more of my NJA brethren saw it this way. It is amazing to me how in two short years RTS has gone from being the face of pure evil to our drinking buddy. The fact is, he is neither. RTS is a world class businessman. Don't forget it.
I have had the opportunity to fly with people that I didn't particularly like, only to find out later that they were scabs. It all fit in with their behavior during the tour. Crossing a picket line is merely a manifestation of a character flaw. This thread is not about scabs though.
An inhouse...
Great post Gutshot. I think you may have a firmer grasp on the LOA than some of our guys. You make some great observations and raise some points that I had not considered.
NJA pilots have nothing to fear with "date of hire" integration. It will have absolutely zero impact on our career...
Technically, you are correct in saying that this is not a done deal. However, it is quite obvious that the writing is on the wall. The fact is that after 11/21/08 all NetJets G F/Os will come from the NJA ranks. That's not just a smoking gun for the single carrier petition, rather a smoking...
I just wan to echo what Mooneymite said. All good info. Especially his last statement:
If you are the type of guy who needs to know what's going to happen ahead of time, you won't like this job much. If you are the type of guy who can roll with the punches and look at every brief change as if...
