"VFR on top" clearance. . .

They exist. I've always heard about them being in Alaska, though I'm sure there are probably some that are in the lower 48. Remember that DME is not strictly associated with VORs. PADK NDB/DME 23

    IMS health (Oxford, CT)

Does anyone here work for IMS? I'm trying to get in touch with one of your pilots. PM me if you can help. Thanks!

    Anyone flown a TBM700/850?

No, absolutely not. Turbine engines are 10 times easier to manage than a turbocharged piston. Need to get down? Chop the power to idle. Can't do that in a piston. The TBM is complicated because it is an advanced aircraft. It is just that relative to most other singles out there it has a...

    Anyone flown a TBM700/850?

I ride right seat in a 700 on occasion and fly on the empty legs. It's got to be the most complicated single out there. It flies great in smooth air but rides hard in turbulence. It's pretty cool though to fly an airplane that cruises at over 300 knots and yet be able to slow it down to 172...

    AME in Ohio

If you're in the Athens area, Dr. Fredericks is the way to go. Cheaper than anyone else and it's an easy exam. You'll spend 5 minutes filling out the form and a half hour talking about airplanes with him. Great guy.

    Alpha Flying crash pad

Just curious- I thought Alpha only hired people living in the MHT area. Are you from the area or did you tell them you'd be willing to relocate? I'd love to get on with them as I'm from New England but had to move to the dirty south for my current job. Thanks.

    Misdemeanor question

Get the advice of a lawyer; I'm sure someone probably said it before but it bears repeating. For example, in Ohio if you get something expunged it specifically says in the state law that you are not required to disclose your arrest or conviction to anyone, including a potential employer. Would...

    Acronyms

How about we learn what these acronyms mean and how to apply them rather than just rote learning? Sorry, I just gave a particularly bad stage check to someone who memorized the acronyms and had nothing to back them up and I need to vent.

"VFR on top" clearance. . .

How am I going to navigate without a VOR? Well, there's always GPS, NDBs, LORAN, ded reckoning, pilotage (ok, a stretch in this situation), and celestial navigation. I might have forgotten something. The point is there are pleanty of ways to do it. One reason I might go VFR on top is...

    Production Test Pilot - Cessna

Sounds like a great job. The downside? You have to move to Independence, Kansas. I'm sure it's a great town for raising a family but I've been through there a couple times to pick up airplanes from the factory and it is not exactly the hotbed of entertainment in S.E. Kansas. Most of the guys...

    ACC Charter operation question ?

Do they pay for an airline ticket to your reporting point or is it your responsibility to get there?

    Need some aircraft buying suggestions...

Careful about heading taking the MoGas route. While it is cheaper, many (if not all; I'm not sure) of the STCs do not allow for the use of MoGas with ethanol. If you're in an area that has switched to ethonal over other additives or will in the future, you will be out of luck.

    AMF EMB's

Don't know if people are including it in the CVG count or not, but there is one based at CHO. It goes CHO-LYH-ILN-CHO.

    Fleet washers

Our school does it in house also. We have a couple of local college kids who wash our planes as well as our customers. They aren't on the payroll strictly for washing airplanes, but that's the only time I ever see them.

Just wondering who will be attending the june "Pre" semester at ERAU

Why is everyone so down on riddle? Where else can you attend school..... .....with a 500:1 male to female ratio? .....while living in the fine city of Daytona Beach? .....and get your private flying a Frasca 141? .....and spend $20,000 on said private rating? .....have sex with animals on the...

    Vfr 135

Mini- I work for an FBO, all the full time instructors who meat 135 mins (IFR or VFR) are given checkrides so that they are available should something come up. As far as VFR stuff goes, typically it would be something like "So and so diverted in here for mx and needs to be taken on to their...

    Norwalk, CT

Meridan?!? What company in their right mind would send you to Meridan for anything? Off yourself now. Sorry, but there's not much there. Best bet would be to go into Hartford but even that's not that great. Best places to eat would be City Steam brewhouse and Black Eyed Sally's.

    Odd 135 Duty Question

OK, I hadn't thought about making it a PIC/SIC scenario. Let's change it so that the destination is now 11 hours away and I cannot legally make the flight without a crew change, regardless of whether it's two pilots. From what I gather this is legal so long as the crew change point is...
