Tweaker,
I threw boxes for UPS while I was in college. During my interview I mentioned that very fact to the interviewers and they both said "we noticed that" so I suggest it might not hurt.
I do believe however that the best way to get aninterview here at UPS is to fly a lot, and get to...
We have had a couple bids this summer. Mostly to fill open seats on the International front. Had several Captain and F/O upgrades. To the extent that 75% of the flight engineers on the property are over 60 years of age. They are waiting for a new contract then they are out of here.
Lots of...
When I applied the minimums for flight time were "commensurate with experience" There really is no hard and fast number on flight time. But since it is a major, the more the better. In my class for instance one of the Civilian guys had 10,000 hours plus. And the low man had 2,000 total time...
Latest I heard from a friend who spoke to the System Chief Pilot is January. WE have between 300-400 guys that were hired in 1994 who will be receiving a 4th week of vacation next year. Couple that with 60 or so retirements plus aircraft deliveries and the fact they can't afford to retire...
According to our former Jumpseat Coordinator, AAL guy/gals are now allowed to list themselves on UPS Jumpseats. They will have to wait until June 7th to start riding with us however.
When the other carriers have completed their "internal steps" then they will also be allowed to start...
Mar,
Thanks for nice comments about flying SAR out of Kodiak. I was stationed there for 3 years and experienced the CG Mission up there first hand.
I am not sure where people get the idea that CG Pilots are second rate. Every year the CG has what are called DCA (Direct Commission Aviator)...
Only rumor but heard from a buddy that our former Chief Pilot made mention during a management meeting that he envisioned UPS hiring later in the year. His boss got out of his seat and said there would absolutely be NO hiring in 2004. The Chief Pilot is no longer Chief Pilot. They made up...
I lived in McVey Hall my freshman year and the only time I thought I saw ghosts were after about 10 glasses of everclear punch.
It sure was nice to have that tunnel however. As I can recall it got colder than a witches tit up there.
Nope we're not hiring yet.
Not sure what to make of this. We are hurting for airplanes and pilots. Volume is way way up and we're raking in the $$$.
Maybe they are negotiating to reduce the number of the A300's in order to get another Airbus aircraft. A340's and A380's have been on the...
Just remember that if we haven't hired by say mid-October. We more than likely won't hire at all for the rest of the year. November and December are sacred around here being our "Peak" time when they say everyone flies.
Sounds like we have like approximately 60 captains retiring this year...
Other UPS bases for pilots are Ontario California and Miami. But you won't go there as a new hire, in fact it would take a few years to get there more than likely.
Don't get too down on the news you heard about UPS. The people that were there are not exactly "in the know" as to what they are going to do. Even though they are management and they are HR. The final word comes form Atlanta. They will call HR here in Louisville one day and say "hire 100...
An ANC Domicile has been a rumor for a long time. It makes sense. And if they do open another domicile I would guess that ANC would be a good bet. But the company hasn't said anything about in a a few years.
Yes UPS uses small feeders. Most of them are used during peak (holidays) but there are regular feeders we use too.
Cologne is an International Hub. It is not a pilot domicile. The only domiciles are Louisville, Ontario, CA. and Miami. There are a lot of flights that go into and out of CGN...
